These are the best tamales that I have ever had the pleasure of consuming in Houston, by far! They are very traditional, unlike those spinach and kale ones you can get at your local HEB. There's something about the dough that makes them delectable. It's not on the menu, but when I placed a special order for a baptism breakfast, they were able to customize them with the meat and sauce that I preferred and they even had sweet tamales. I have yet to encounter another tamale place that has sweet tamales (strawberry and pineapple with raisins). One word of caution, though. If you use the Google maps listing to take you to this location, it will take you to the WRONG strip mall. If you look at the pictures closely, you will see the shop is nowhere to be seen, and that's because it's actually further up the road, across the street from where the address lists it. You have to pass a Domino's and then it's in that shopping strip. If you, however, take the directions on their FB page and plug it into Google maps, it will take you to the right location, which is just past...
Read moreThis was my first time buying from them and I have to say I'm not disappointed. The tamales have REALLY GOOD! flavor but if they could make them just a bit more bigger they would be perfect. I bought 2 dozens, one pollo en salsa verde and one puerco en salsa roja and they both are delicious! I have nothing to say about the puerco ones because if they were just a bit bigger they would be perfect as for the pollo they taste really good but I prefer them when the pollo is mixed with the salsa and this look as if they Add the chicken and them they add a touch of salsa before they wrap them up. When I see that they make them just a bit bigger I would defiantly change my review to 5 stars. I do however recommend them and look foward to going back and trying the rest...
Read moreI’ve been in search for some amazing tamales every since I moved to Houston, just on a humbug today I really had a taste for some tamales so I jumped on google read thru so many reviews and this restaurant had the best reviews, so that’s what I rolled with! And I don’t regret it, the tamales has lots of flavor and they’re a good size and let’s not mention that the cost is perfect! Side note: I visited another place the other day as soon as I walked in I felt unwelcome, not at MARTA’S!! I was greeted and my food was ready in 5 minutes and was still hat when I made it home...I will definitely be a returning customer, hands down I found...
