Saigon Basil — Restaurant in Texas

I decided to catch up with an old friend today at Saigon Basil, an old work colleague. We decided on just drinks and egg rolls. The food is usually good, but the problem was a roach in our chosen booth. We kindly told our server and she did not address the situation. She merely squinted and said it came in from outside. (Our booth was nearest the kitchen) The young lady didn't discount our food nor removed the offensive roach. We had to wait about five minutes for our ticket to pay and leave We never got our napkins for our food . I guess you must wipe yourself with your shirt or hand . Eww! I believe since we were not ordering much or local to their restaurant they would not give us anything in the way of hospitality. So my conclusion look around for any pests before dining in at Saigon Basil. The date was 2/4/23 about 8:30 pm or so . Booth nearest the kitchen . Just a horrible...

The first time I ordered from here the food was great minus the issue with the shrimp. The first time I ordered fried rice and a shrimp dish. Everything was good but I disliked the fact that they don’t clean their shrimp. You’re supposed to peel the shrimp slice it in half and take out the dirt and they don’t do that.

The second time I ordered which was Friday night was HORRIBLE! I think they gave me old fried rice and shrimp. The fried rice was tasteless and not soft and I even saw chunks of white rice. The shrimp was horrendous I couldn’t even eat it. And I thought I was getting egg rolls and they gave me fresh egg rolls or something it was a disaster. I can not recommend this place and I really don’t know if I’ll go back. Not a good second experience at all.

Tip: Clean your shrimp properly please.

The restaurant was empty when I came in and they took well over ten minutes to make one boba drink. The server was not very friendly or willing to discuss the menu and did not seem to understand English well. They were so disinterested in me that I walked out with my drink before realizing that they hadn't asked me to pay. I went back in and tried to explain that I hadn't paid and could I pay for my drink. No one seemed to understand or even care what I wanted to do and it was a very strange and awkward interaction. My matcha milk tea was not well mixed and had separated by the time I got to my car. I had asked for extra boba and did not get extra boba, and the boba themselves were extremely mushy and stuck together so I could not even get one by itself.
