Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Texas

One of the better Sonic establishments I've been too. Unlike most, there's not an over-reliance on the use of salt in the food. The staff has been quite pleasant. Nothing extraordinary but nothing aweful. Food also never takes very long to get to me and it's always quite warm, if not hot.

The reason for docking two stars is something that I don't know if it's management level or staff level but it's been a bit too consistent. I've ordered Totchos 3 times and Chilli Cheese Coney's (regular and footlong) more times than I can count. With each order in the recent 4 months or so, they've seemed to be stingy with their toppings or lack a level of pride in the food they're sending out the door. Things were better prior.

The Tatchos, as an easy example, have plenty of tots, bacon, and jalapenos, but the cheese seems like it's a single tablespoon meant to be spread across three servings of tots. The bacon on my order for today, while plentiful (about 2 slices worth), was put in the Tatchos in pieces about as big as they are in the sandwiches, about 5 pieces. This needs to be way more finely broken out and spread around. The point is to have some per bite or close to it, not pull out 5 seperate strips of bacon and have no more for the rest of the order. It looked more like an order of tots that someone accidentally spilled some of the sauce into, then tossed in slices of bacon into rather than a deliberate pouring of sauce to cover the tots, with bacon broken/cut up to do similar.

The Coney's, though similar, aren't as bad. There'll sometimes be almost no cheese on them or the chilli is about as thick as a thick squeeze of ketchup and only partly on the dog. If I can see a good amount of hotdog in my chilli cheese coney, there's not enough chilli or cheese and on orders of two or more, it shouldn't be happening as consistently as it is.

I've gotten a Sonic Blast with the M&M minis in it but the M&Ms were just tossed on the top and not too much. When I have a large sized Blast, I'd like enough M&Ms for it. I've yet to order another one because of that.

These are my only gripes as everything else has been good. The food hot and good for fast food. The drinks sweet and refreshing. I'll be updating this if I see change, and I certainly do hope so, especially on the Tatchos with them being so new, yet so dissappointing. To the manager and staff, please take pride in the food you put out. If it's not what you'd want to see when you get your order, we probably aren't happy seeing it either. We also shouldn't have to return it back (and fear retaliation in our food). Getting it right the first time is key.

So after a looooooong work day I was starving as one could imagine... I proceeded to hit up Whataburger down the road, only to find out they are closed ! Not gonna lie I was kind of upset about it (I was really upset about it 😒) . So your boy jumps back on 1604 thinking 🤔 “helll I’m out of options” Than suddenly this beam of light hits my Peripheral, I automatically see it was glare off of the beautifully illuminated Fluorescent SONIC sign !

Now I’m hype !!!!

I reverse on 1604 (was at a red light don’t judge me) Bang a sharp right turn on to marbach and shoot over to the sonic as quickly as my 2011 Acura TSX would allow.. ( I’m zooming bro)

I pull up, do the 🔂 loopty loop they cleverly designed and hit the drive thru with my order ready like I’d just rehearsed it!

Only to be greeted with a joyful voice which stated “Thank you for choosing SONIC Drive-in, however we are no longer 24 hours and close at 2 am I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience have a good night “

Now I’m sitting here defeated, starving, at whits end.. thinking “why have you forsaken my faaaaaather!”

So me being me, I tell the guy my situation.. Luckily he was cool, (very obvious)

So, he responds with “what’d you want ?”

Me- “honestly, I was gonna go hard bro I’m starving rn..” and gave him a last meal type of list 😆

He proceeded to ask me to pull up to the drive thru window..

Now I’m hype all over again, he didn’t give me a price or even tell me what he was gonna give me....

He came to my car with like literally everything my poor little stomach desired. I attempted to pay the man, he refused I tipped him anyway... all he asked was that I write a good review about His location... I hope I’ve held my end of the bargain JAKE, you are a solid dude and made my night, morning whatever you want to call it. Thank you and god bless you as a young man at 2 am to still go above and beyond after being closed you showed a tremendous amount of character, and for that sir I thank...

Spent $41.72 and regret it. I asked a question about a burger — what comes on this burger? Not once were onions mentioned, so I ordered it as is. Lo and behold, there are onions on the burger. Had I known, I would have asked for no onions but they never said that burger came with onions. Quick fix.. just scraped them off but annoying nonetheless.

Ordered a kids corn dog meal. I repeated my daughter’s order twice so they understood. The carhop woman bringing our food couldn’t even repeat off our food order so we started to repeat our food order and she said “yes” so I took that as they got everything down and correct. But it wasn’t. They put the corn dog in as hot dog, she was in fact not checking the things off that receipt so nobody caught it until we got home. My daughter didn’t eat it & it’s not what we ordered.

We ordered 6 cups total— 2 fountain drinks, 3 milkshakes, and an apple juice box and they didn’t think to bring out a drink holder? You know dang well better than that. Just bring it on out in the drink holder.

These employees clearly need to do better or get better training. Food quality was mid but certainly not $40 worth. Burgers were dry. Drinks and tots were decent. But the mistakes made when the location wasn’t busy at all is ridiculous. Not a place worth...
