Below average quality food, in that it’s bland and uninspired combined with mediocre service, at best, is a horrible combo for a restaurant that wants to survive.
SERVICE: We went on a Sunday evening and the place was not busy at all - almost dead - staff were quite literally twirling around at times and seemed more keen to kid around with each other than assist customers with placing orders, never mind upselling or talking about specials. After asking the waitress for what she recommended for dinner and she said: “Cobb salad”. Really??? Service: 2/5 IMHO, at least they were polite, but very aloof about their job.
FOOD: overall food was bland and below average for the price. We ordered the blue crab cakes (after we got them we realized they were frozen ones you can buy at the store - confirmed this with staff), the “sunshine bowl” for the kids (chopped up Costco-tasting rotisserie chicken that was kind of dry, with rice and warmed up frozen pees), and then their “popular” kabob plate is highway robbery IMO for what you get (the beef kabobs we got were maybe 4oz total in each plate, and served with rice and frozen veggies that had been warmed up).
PRICE: For what you get food-wise I cannot justify their prices. Bang for your buck: 2/5 stars.
ATMOSPHERE: This was the biggest plus out of the whole experience, but not without its flaws. It was quiet, civilized and nicely decorated. However, the booth we sat in was too small (no, neither myself or my wife are obese) so my wife and I had to be very cognizant of each others feet so as to not step on each other, which happened more than it should. There was also quite a bit of dust just lingering at the top of the wall separating the booth section from the table section. Overall I’ll be nice and give it 4/5 stars because I believe that’s fair.
VERDICT: If you made it this far down after reading my review no surprise here … would I take my family back here again? No.
There’s better places to spend your money at and get way more bang for your buck. Then again, if you’re into microwaved food and a quiet atmosphere where waiters do not bother you - even when you want to place an order - then this place...
Read moreLocal Table is a new staple for me! The atmosphere is fantastic, with a perfect blend of indoor and outdoor vibes, and we especially loved the open-air bar that connects seamlessly to the patio. My wife, mother-in-law, and I originally stopped by just for drinks, but after browsing the menu, we couldn’t resist staying for dinner—and we’re so glad we did!
The service was top-notch, and we were especially well taken care of by Jerry, the manager, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. My wife is particular about her food, especially when it comes to spice, and the staff was incredibly accommodating. They let her know upfront about the spice level, reassured her that they’d make adjustments if needed, and ultimately delivered a dish she loved.
To top it all off, Emerson, who we later found out is the owner, personally checked in on us—not in a formal way, but just as someone genuinely invested in making sure we had a great experience. That kind of hospitality really makes a place stand out.
The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was inviting, and the people were even better. I wish I could remember the bartender’s name because she was excellent as well! Overall, this was a five-star experience, and we’re looking forward to making Local Table one of our...

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Local Table in The Woodlands! Our server, Matthew, was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and incredibly personable. He made sure our birthday celebration felt extra special and even showcased his excellent photography skills, capturing beautiful memories for us! Singing into our karaoke mike, he did an outstanding job of Happy Birthday in both English and Spanish!
At his recommendation, we tried the tater tots appetizer (available only on the happy hour menu), and it was a fantastic choice—delicious, crispy, and perfectly portioned for the four of us to share. The pineapple cocktail was another highlight—refreshing, flavorful, and delicious.
We never felt rushed, allowing us to truly enjoy our time together. The service, food, and drinks exceeded all expectations. We will definitely be back and highly recommend Local Table—especially if you’re lucky enough to have Matthew as your server!
