True Texas BBQ — Restaurant in The Woodlands

This place is seriously a joke. Every single time I go here and decide to give it another chance (because their BBQ is really good) THEY ARE ALWAYS OUT OF SOMETHING. What I can’t understand is how at 5pm on a Sunday (when you don’t close till 9) that you could be out of Brisket, Mac and Cheese, Cream of Corn and Potatoes. Are you poorly preparing for the day? Not to mention the customer service is terrible. I was standing in line being waited on when the guy just walked away. Didn’t say a word. I was in the middle of ordering and her just left and came back and still didn’t say a word about walking away. The trash cans were overfilled and food and plates were sticking out, the drink area was a mess and tables had food and trash sitting out on them. This was the last time I wasted my money on this place. HEB needs to get it together with these people. Either provide them better food handling, preparing and delivering training as well as customer service training or find people who are willing and want to learn and work because every single time I have gone in there it’s always a train wreck!

• UPDATE* tried to go there AGAIN today while leaving HEB because my daughter wanted BBQ well what do you know.. ONCE AGAIN OUT OF A TON OF STUFF. Then when I asked the guy why that always happens he cane back at me saying “well it’s your fault you should probably come earlier like around 4:30” HELLO you’re open till 9! All people do not eat DINNER at 4:30! Good grief! Again poorly prepared and TERRIBLE...

Here we go with another review from my expertise as an experienced traveler The Place was super clean, tables separated appropriately, utensils were given by a dispenser which was a great touch, free soda refills, plenty of napkins, the taste of the spicy sauce incomparable and the brisket melts in your mouth as tender as it was cooked to perfection. Prices were fair. I ordered 1 meat which came with two sides I ordered bbq beans which were super delicious and a coleslaw which was tasty as well, they give you two slices of bread in a plastic bag which was great pickles and onions. Customer service was just so-so , not bad just dry and down to business you know no smiles just what it was which could get better if they really want people to come back, I didn’t feel welcomed much, the meat was on the small size portion in my opinion, I got 4 slices of pickles which were also not much this is the only reason why I’m giving four stars, if I pay 12 for a meal I expect a little more meat . Hopefully they pick up the act and continue with this great food place. Note; the bad things I mentioned didn’t stop me from enjoying my meal, just mentioned them for them...

Ummm okay, first, this is a glorified H.E.B. deli counter... I went around 645 pm on a Monday. The good: spicy BBQ sauce was pretty good.

The not so good: the brisket and pulled pork were both good, but I got more of the hard black "rind" part than anything else in both of my takeout portions. Those parts are too hard to eat. Not the best. Sausage was hard and nearly tasteless. Potato salad was average at best.

The bad: They were out of everything. Like everything. No green beans, no corn bread, no banana pudding, no mac & cheese, no grapes (seriously, you're steps from the produce department). I understand being out of meats that take longer to cook, but all of the sides? Wth yall! Cheap white bread in sandwich bags. This isn't Texas BBQ.

Bottom line, this is a ready to eat deli counter in a grocery store. No more. Save yourself some frustration & drive down to...
