Sweet Life Cake Shop — Restaurant in Thornton

Super super disappointed and dissatisfied! I’ve always come here to get my birthday cakes. Never had a problem until now. I’ve came in a month advance. Gave specific time and date for it to be done and ask if that’s okay. Of course she said yes and made me put a down a deposit which is totally fine, day of pickup. She texts me saying my cake will be done 1 hour past our agreed pick up time. I’m sorry birthday parties are timed nowadays & we put down a reasonable time so the time should be met? I argue that with her , then pick up comes. We pay our balance and cake already looks slanted, I thought nothing of it because we are on a time crunch. Driving carefully to our destination and the cake completely slides off the top tier. I look inside and it’s being held by tiny sticks that wouldn’t hold anything especially with a filling Inside. Even with me holding this cake there was no saving it! Usually they put little sticks, and one big stick, on top of something to hold tiers! I didn’t get that this time and my poor child’s birthday cakes was done for.. I contact them and all. They do is send me a picture and tell me once it leaves the store and anything that happens to it is not their responsibility! I've been here a few times now over the past two years. I'm overall unimpressed as I've yet to buy a cupcake that isn't artificially flavored and that doesn't taste like it's been sitting around for 3-5 days. The prices are generally low but I don't think it justifies selling old product. I love how welcomed I feel and how organized it is which is why it's hard for me to remove more stars. I decided to finally write a review because my last visit (last Tuesday) was the worst one yet. I bought beautifully decorated valentine's cookies that were very bad. They didn't really have a flavor, but they were salty and completely stale (what I imagine was suffering from the beginning stages of bread mold). I have to say that was the worst cookie I ever had. My boyfriend even said they were bad, and he is a more lenient on taste and quality than I. I then tried the normal chocolate cupcake I bought, it was also stale and very dry. The filling was a slightly gummy chocolate "ganache" I think, that was also artificially flavored. The frosting was entirely way too sweet and just not good. I imagine the made to order cupcakes are freshly made and probably moist. Their cakes are very pretty as well, but I do not think I will ever try them. I wouldn't mind paying more for...

What an awful experience. I went and requested 3 words to be written on a cake they already had. The lady said she could do it in 5 minutes and I should have let her do it. I had my dog in the car so I went for a hike. 2 hours later when I come back the young lady tried to box the cake while hiding it from me. I asked to see it and noticed why that was the case. The word Welcome was completely illegible. You could recognize a W and an L. The lady told me her boss came, did it quickly, and left. So now I had an ugly cake and no way to get a refund. To be clear, the young lady there was incredibly sweet and kind and did her best to fix it. In the end she did make the top pretty, but I had to wait 30 minutes for a simple job they had 2 hours to complete and the color scheme used in the end completely clashed with the rest of the cake. To the owner, who came in and carelessly wrote my message, I am a manager myself and our job is to care for our team and help them with difficult situations, not create tough moments for them to deal with by themselves.
