Googled " best burgers in thousand oaks CA" and this place came up.
My wife and I both had the Stand burger. We got a large fries and a small onion rings.
The burgers appeared to be hand formed. The beef was finely ground and there was no bone or gristle in the burgers. Great quality. They were done to our specifications and very tasty. Well dressed and my bun had been toasted. Only criticism is that although the buns were toasted and fresh, they were cold. Perhaps pre toasted then refrigerated. But, they were fresh.
The fries were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The onion rings were cooked to perfection. No tough, outside rings and they were crispy outside and tender inside as well.
All in all, a very satisfying dining experience. We were both pleasantly satisfied with the size of the meal and overall quality and taste.
I will be back again to try some of the other delights on the menu!
Update 10/1/22
Went again for lunch. Wife had the Chicken Club Sandwich, a hard pass! Chicken, though it is marinated(?) was largely tasteless, bacon was ok, but whatever the greens on the sandwich were ( looked like Basil) they were beyond their shelf life and mostly bland. The promised avocado ( which would justify the $12.75 price) was barely present on the sandwich.
I had the 1/4lb Stand Dog and it was pretty darn good! Nice frank, split and grilled, tasty and has a nice snap to the bite. Dressed well (to order, up to 4 condiments) the old fashioned hot dog roll may be a little too bready for some, but was fresh and tasty.
The fries were good, tender inside and a little crispy outside.
The onion rings, however, were soggy and greasy this time around. A disappointment at $8.45.
Add to that the featured drink, Coffee Toffee milkshake at $5.99 , (too sweet!) And a small soft drink and our bill was $46.84 including tax, but before the prompted tip. $51.52 out the door with 10% gratuity. A bit pricey for a walk up counter service restaurant and the food served here.
For our second visit here, again, there were no hand towels in the men's room. I told the official looking young woman whom I informed on my last visit about this, she thanked me and said she would take care of it, however I watched several men who had visited the restroom a while later, coming out with wet hands and several drying them on their shirts!
Details, details!!
My take away? I probably won't be back. There are just too many other options around the area, and with the cost of lunch equal to a lunch at The Cheesecake Factory, I will just head over...
Read moreThe staff at this store are wonderful! Cheery, helpful, attentive, good listeners. They make the dining experience really exceptional. Set in the former PitFire Pizza store (so so sad we lost Pitfire during the pandemic...), this outpost serves the same menu items as other Stand locations. Lots of choices, eclectic menu items including a kids menu, lots of salads, plenty of sandwiches and burgers and a hot dog or 2. Fries and onion rings of course. Shakes are yummy, on par w/ Shake Shack for goodness and thickness. 3 stars you wonder? Here's the thing, it's a burger stand and the burger is just meh. Hear me out. Sure stuff is fresh. Everything is cooked and assembled to order. It's probably good for $ value too but it's just a meh burger. Bun is very big, not very tasty, pretty bready, lacking in what a good burger bun should have. The bun is bigger than the patty which means MORE bread per bite which ain't great if you want to taste the burger. Fixins are fresh and plentiful, patty is ok though oddly, not very savory or seasoned. Special sauce aint special enough to breakthrough. I'd rather see a smash style patty on a brioche or potato bun, 1/3 lb is a perfect size to stay juicy, seared and delivery the goods- cheese, fixins in between a smushed bun. If you haven't been to Win-Dow in LA, get there, have the burger. It'll set you back about $4 (5?) dollars and it's perfect. I'll go back though not for a burger, next time I'm gonna try the brisket (weird considering Brent's is across...
Read moreOrdered a well done stand burger and a kid’s burger among other things. I asked if the kid’s burger comes well done when ordering and was told it was, but I asked the cashier to please make a note requesting it just to be sure. She did and it was printed right on the receipt. Both my stand burger and the kid’s burger arrived at the table cooked medium at best. I honestly can’t believe they would serve a child’s burger anything less than well done considering how deadly food borne illness can be in young children (helloooo infamous 1992-93 Jack In The Box E Coli outbreak caused by undercooked beef). My daughter is only 19 months so it certainly wasn’t worth the risk. And even though I can normally tolerate a little pink in my own burger, it was so underdone that I couldn’t stomach it. I absolutely hate sending food back and rarely ever do, but in this case we had to request new food for both me and my daughter. I will say that the staff was really nice about it - Chad even threw in a free brownie for the trouble. But overall, the experience was a bit off putting due to the meal disruption and the discomfort of having to request new food...
