Had a 6:00 pm reservation for this evening to celebrate our 20 year anniversary. Restaurant was at about 10-15% capacity at best. Yet they tried to seat us in the back right next to the restroom. You can smell the bleach and I am sure you would hear the flush with the first visitor. We asked to be seated at another table and we were told our only other option was the bar because the open tables (mostly empty) were all tables of 4. I could see if we were a walk in with no reservations or it was a Friday or Saturday evening but a Tuesday evening with a reservation c'mon - this isn’t a Michelin star restaurant . So we walked out. We had been here before, but after this experience we will not be back.
Follow up to owner’s response - I would have hoped that my review would have been taken as an opportunity to improve your customer service. But that obviously is not the case. There was a very strong smell of some sort of cleaning product - my bad if it was not bleach but whatever it was, it was not a smell that you want to smell when you are eating dinner. When we asked to be reseated because we passed multiple open tables on our way to the back of the restaurant, the host said we could not sit at any of the other tables because they were tables of 4. He never said they were fully booked. And yes we did have an amazing anniversary dinner at a fabulous restaurant. By the way, did you relocate the bathroom? Last time we were there it was in the back exactly where your host attempted to...
Read moreAs our party of eleven entered the restaurant we were welcomed by a magnificent setting, and Persian Hospitality of the host, Peyman Afshar. We were seated where we had a wonderful view of the open kitchen where you could see the chefs working.
The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starters. We had PAN ROASTED “STREET” CORN and CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS followed by MARINATED ROASTED BEETS. For the main course I had DUCK CONFIT ENCHILADAS . As a group we had a variety samples of delicious in-house specialty deserts.
All the products were fresh and the dishes were indicative of a creative and talented chef that take great care in selecting the best quality ingredients. The restaurant also caters to all tastes by providing a large selection of the best wine of the region and abroad.
The service matched the high quality of the cooking. They treated us with great sense of humor, utmost respect and smiles. Peyman is a hands on host and is always present to make sure the service is up his high standards.
We had a pleasant dining experience with food with the most exquisite flavors and top of the line service. I highly recommend going to Pearl District Restaurant for one of the best dining experiences...
Read moreActually having been to the Pearl District in Portland many times, we found this restaurant even better than most. The appetizers were delicious. We shared the salt and pepper shrimp, lobster tempura and and , brussels sprouts all of which were amazing. The venison was tender and so flavorful and the Malaysian spiced scallops were incredible. The szechuan hoisin sauce worked so well on the venison. Also the crispy skin branzino was moist and well prepared. The wine list is very reasonable and lots of great choices. And be sure to save room for deserts. The molten chocolate cake is totally decadent and our friend who is glutten free loved the panna cotta. So nice that this restaurant is family owned and not a chain since Westlake, Calabasas and TO are the land of mediocrity. No need to drive for an hour to the Westside with Pearl...
