I have eaten at Bollingers often since I moved to the area seven years ago. The staff has always made us feel welcome and we have received excellent service regardless of the color skin our friends that join us to eat here may have. From time to time when the restaurant is busy we’ve waited a bit for our food to come out but at what good restaurant when it’s busy isn’t there a bit of a wait? If you want pre-made food - go to a fast food restaurant. Because everything is made to order at Bollinger’s the food is absolutely fantastic (and totally worth any wait there may be)! Just last night I had one of the best steak and cheese subs I’ve ever had. I am outraged at a bogus review that was posted a few days ago on here by someone that obviously doesn’t realize that the owners are able to tell what happens at anytime the restaurant is open and are able to make a record of it. It’s ridiculous that someone can come on here and review a good business using blatant lies just because they either have a personal problem that is non- business related with one of the staff or because they are trying to get a free meal. Good business owners like the folks at Bollingers appreciate feedback even in the form of a negative review so that when something does go wrong (mistakes happen) they have the opportunity to make it right for that patron and make internal changes to make the experience for future customers better. Before writing a horrible review it might be nice to take the time to speak with one of the owners to let them know what happened and give them the chance to make whatever happened right for you and then if the issue isn’t resolved take to a public forum. Reviews like this women left are done by ignorant, petty people that have nothing better to do with their life than trash a business for their...
Read moreUnfortunately I cannot give this place a good review because of my most recent experience with carry out which I USED TO DO OFTEN as I live literally across the street. When I first decided to eat at Bollingers I was extremely happy with the food the service and the entirety of the experience and the few I had after that. Mind you when I first went to Bollingers it was over a year ago. Sadly the food and service and overall quality of the place has gone down significantly in my personal opinion. Recently one afternoon me and my boyfriend decided to get lunch from Bollingers so he told me what he wanted and I called the restaurant and ordered our food for carry out, they told us 20 min I believe and we walked over there and went to the carry out counter and still had to wait another 15-20 min or so for our food. Once we left the house got home and started eating…. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries…. I finished most my sandwich and fries and go to reach for another French fry and see that there is a fly cooked into it he very fry I picked up, it made me so disgusted that I threw up and couldn’t stop. I then decided to take my food back over to get my money back and when I told them about it the manager simply says basically nothing…. I had to ask and demand for my money back and I shouldn’t have had any of these negative experiences, Bollingers is supposed to be a higher end restaurant in Thurmont and it became a huge disappointment, so much so that I don’t even think about going there to eat...
Read moreA friend and I went for lunch. Went in a side door and was greeted by the nicest lady who told us to sit where we wanted. Such a homey vibe. Knew I was going to love it before I even got the menu. The place was already filling up and we picked a seat by the window. Our server Brittney was phenomenal. Very friendly and knowledgeable. We asked if there were any specials and she told us there was breakfast all day. We got that menu too!! The regular menu is extensive with good Old home cooking. The breakfast menu is just as big. All of the meats on the menu are smoked. The burgers are hand patted. I got a roast beef sandwich with American cheese , onions and mushrooms on grilled sourdough toast. I had hand cut fries as my side and asked for them to be topped with melted cheese and bacon. I also got a side of Mac and cheese. My friend got breakfast and had her home fries covered in chipped beef gravy. Her French toast looked amazing. My lunch was EXCELLENT and I am a Mac and Cheese snot and this did not disappoint!! Brittney kept my Dr. Pepper filled and never even rolled her eyes about it. All of their desserts are made from scratch and today was a remake day. Brittney told us that they sell out in a few hours. She also told us that on the weekends they can get really busy and have a line out the door! That made my heart so happy for them! Such a hidden gem with simple great food and super service. We...
