I bought a diamond ring . I just happened to walk in since my Dad was in the dentist next door. I was passing time. I was looking and saw a ring that I thought was pretty. The owner Tim said if I bought it he would discount it. He discounted it by 800.00 . Yes 800.00? I bout it for 1400.00. I could not believe he said that. I hesitated as was just looking. He got me with 800.00 off. I said I will get it but don’t need it. I said I bring it back tomorrow. I have lots of jewelry but the discount I fell for… that was my fault. I was right . Got home and that night I wore it and there was NO SPARKLE. Could not see the beautiful diamonds I saw in the case…. With bright lights on them. I was so disappointed! I did what I said zi would probably do. Went back next morning with my t receipt. They said oh no we can’t take back we can give you an EXCHANGE!!!! I didn’t want any ring. I wanted my card credited back. Instead they started showing me more expensive rings around 3,000.00. I insisted I wanted my card credited. OK, charge me $100 for taking it out the store. It wasn’t even 24 hours. They never told me I could not bring it back the next day and get my money. Never. If I would’ve known that I would’ve never taken it out of the store. It was stamped at the bottom. No refunds just exchange. That is highway robbery. I have dealt with Smyth jewelers for many years. My husband bought a lot of my jewelry from there. Their policy is 30 days. Whether it was a sale or not. I got ripped off. I brought the ring back the next day before noon. The rain did not shine only in a glass case with lights. They would not credit my account. That is unacceptable for anyone to do to another person. I would gladly have given him $100. Just take this off my credit card. Never once did they say you can’t bring it back tomorrow and get your money back. They said that’s fine. Never did they say you have to get an exchange not your money. That is highway robbery. I bought a necklace from them years ago. I kept it because I liked it. I brought this back whether it’s 800 off or not because I didn’t need it. We’re not even talking a week or two we’re talking hours. I will never ever suggest that place again. They owe me...
Read moreI was referred to Darrel at Hunt Valley Jewelers by a close friend when I started my search for an engagement ring for my now fiance. From the first visit, he made me feel like I was his most important customer. He took the time to educate me on the process, providing input and feedback on the ideas I had while making sure I got what I wanted. When it came time to look for the main stone, he was the only jeweler that took the time to put it under the microscope so I could truly appreciate what I was purchasing, and trust me it took a lot of stones to find the right one. My fiance wanted her ring to be unique and incorporate some small diamonds from a necklace that her grandmother gave her. We worked together to come up with a great design that achieved both goals and encouraged me to see the ring at each stage as he crafted right there in his shop. Any nerves I was having about proposing vanished when I went and picked up the final product. All I can say is, beautiful. My fiance and anyone she shows it to are in love with it.
If you're really looking for an enjoyable process of picking out a diamond and creating a truly stunning ring, look no further than Darrel from Hunt...
Read moreAfter shopping for years at one of the large jewelry stores in the area, the sales guy we worked with had left so we decided to look for alternatives to the impersonal service that followed.
So I began reading reviews of the area stores that had a more personal approach yet had been in business for a long time. I found HV Jewelers. The service on my first visit was absolutely exceptional. I met with Darell who repaired and inspected several pieces for me. He was incredibly easy to communicate with, extremely knowledgeable and actually suggested an alternative that saved me money. And a repair that was initially going to take 2 weeks was done in 24 hours!
While my initial visit was only to repair, inspect and clean a few pieces I will trust them with all of my higher-end pieces from now on. Not to mention the fact that I will entrust them with future custom designs and traditional purchases (they have lovely jewelry in their store). I only wish we had found...
