My wife and I are so glad that we went with Apple Street for our small backyard wedding. The bottom line - the food was amazing. We live in NY and when we were planning our wedding on the shore we were a little worried that our catering was just going to be the standard Italian catering you can find pretty easily around here. Instead we were hoping for seasonal produce, healthy but delicious. Apple Street far exceeded anything we could’ve asked for. Everything that was served was super fresh but also tasted amazing. We got goat cheese gougeres, buffalo chicken meatballs, kale caesar salad, watermelon jicama salad, grilled chicken, salmon with apricot salsa, seasonal veggies and a summer pasta. Just to be clear, every single dish was delicious, but I want to note some standouts. For appetizers everyone kept talking about the buffalo chicken meatballs. They were so delicious, being the groom I had like 6. The kale caesar salad had these amazing roasted tomatoes and parm crisps and the watermelon jicama salad was super refreshing. Finally the salmon with apricot was so delicious! Given we did family style and we had so much food I figured the salmon might be a little overdone but it was cooked to perfection, melted in your mouth and the apricot salsa was unreal.
OK finally a note about the staff. The staff was professional, incredibly accommodating and super friendly. We had 1 chef, 2 servers and Sara as our maitre d. I should note, 4 weeks before our event we decided to double our wedding size (this year has been tough) and Apple Street was incredibly accommodating. Sara worked with us to make sure that our ceremony set up got switched to the reception which included rearranging furniture, setting up the tables and adding additional decor. When we got back to the reception area we were blown away with how amazing everything looked. Despite the fact that my wife and I were all over the place that day (it was our wedding after all) and Sara and us had only talked over the phone, Sara and her team were able to help us pull together an amazing event.

Read moreWe booked a reservation for eight for what we thought was brunch at 12 PM, the only time offered when my husband called and yes, asked for brunch. Naturally, we assumed there’d be both breakfast and lunch options. When we arrived and saw only lunch menus, we politely asked our server, Perri(y), about breakfast items, since we were confused since we made a reservation for brunch. She was shockingly rude, telling us breakfast had ended, then saying we could “take it or leave it,” and speaking to us as if we were children. It was basically a “you’re going to eat it and like it” vibe; there was no dialogue, no effort to understand our confusion about booking a brunch.
What made it worse was the manager’s attitude, just as rude and defensive, blaming my husband for not knowing they had stopped serving breakfast. If this restaurant only offers breakfast and lunch, why not clarify that when taking a brunch reservation? The craziest part was that the manager my sister went to talk to said she had taken the reservation and kept blaming my husband for booking brunch. If she had just told him on the phone that there is no brunch, we would have known and not made a reservation for that time.
Also, we would’ve stayed for lunch if anyone had made an effort to speak to us respectfully, but the behavior was atrocious and so mean, given that we only inquired about our confusion, knowing we booked brunch. We left and went to Nicholas, where the service and brunch (served until 2 PM) were wonderful! So if you do get reprimanded for confusion like we did, there are other places to go.
A little kindness and professionalism would have gone a long way. We get it —there is no brunch —but that wasn't the problem. The problem was how they handled the conversation.
I guess congratulations are in order for this place being so successful that they don’t care about guests walking...
Read moreLets start with the reception... very welcoming and customer attentive. This place is seemingly successful because of so many things: a welcoming atmosphere; comfortable and presentable decor throughout the restaurant... patio is fabulous on a nice day and the two large dining areas are full of light and open. The parking can be limited, but we had no trouble finding a spot on our visit. There is also the beautiful crafted and presentable dishes, and lets not leave out the very attentive and friendly staff. We had no reservations, and we were warned that there maybe a wait, but as soon as there was an open table, our wait was of no real moment. Now the food: the lunch menu was clearly thought out, seemingly limited in options, but vast in flavors and creative dishes! I had the chicken sandwich with salad.. a very savory and fresh dish. My other two guests also selected separate dishes; one loved (commented that it was one of his best) the Angus burger with fries. He noted the tenderness of the burger and cooked to his liking. The third guest went for the vegetable dish as well as an appentizer (soup de jour) and simply loved the freshness of the soup and elegant seasoning for the salad. We loved the desserts... hands down, my scone was fresh and welcoming. Of course my two guests went for ice cream dishes... the apple and ice cream plate was simply "divine" (his words, not mine, but I have to note that he also went to a Seminary School - so his use of "divine" carries weight!). The friendly staff were very knowledgeable. Finally, price.... for our experience, the price was clearly earned, but given all of the above, I conclude that the pricing is very competitive with similar restaurants I have visited. This is the...
