Strachn Bakery — Restaurant in Toledo

Alright so, I absolutely LOVE this bakery, the sweets are almost ALWAYS perfect!!! My parents got there wedding cake here and it’s always been a super special place to us. I hate to say this but we have not been by due to us being so busy, but today we decided to stop by and grab 1 eclair, 4 chocolate donuts, and a small cheese danish. It was very sweet and the staff where overall SO nice to us. The reason I’m writing this review though is because we happened to find a literal BUG inside of one of the chocolate donuts, my family member is a frosting lover so she takes the frosting off and eats it slowly. I was sitting with her and you just hear this god awful crunch sound, we where horrified. I know for sure this was a bug because it had WINGS, it had wings.. she just sat there and called me over gagging. I have had amazing experiences with this bakery and the staff as said are amazing. But this was absolutely unbelievable and terrible for us both to have to deal with. PLEASE check your donuts and sweets for bugs, this establishment loads their donuts with sweet frosting, it won’t be easy to spot insects.

If I could this place zero stars I would! I placed my order via phone on 11/6 for pick up 11/20 9/9:30a price was 34 dollars for an 8inch cake and 12 cupcakes for a birthday. I stated on the phone it was for a male. When I arrived they couldn’t find the cake but could find the cups cakes they said they can make the cake in 10 mins I said ok. I would be back came back the cake was just finished but the name was spelled wrong and it was in pink after I stated on the phone it was for a male. They fixed the cake I asked would I be compensated for the inconvenience the owner Doug said no way under his breath. Then tired to charge me another 16 dollars I asked why is my total now 50 dollars? He said because you got a cake. I said the cake was already on my order and I was quoted 34 dollars. He said it’s $50 dollars. I said forget the cake I’ll just take the cupcakes $34 dollars for 6 lemon and 6 strawberry is kinda of pricy to me but I was in a rush and needed them today. I recently got an Alice in Wonderland cake for my daughter's birthday and I could not have imagined or came up with or thought of a better cake design than they did and it tasted so amazingly I'm so sad I forgot to take a picture of the cake because it was so beautiful but it got devoured and everybody kept making comments about how amazing it was. We also got cupcakes and they were so good too and turn out so beautifully and they even added decorations to them and to make them on theme. And they were made exactly as I asked for except for better. And they are very affordable I would say I was very happy with the price that I paid and what I got in return.
