Repeatedly intentionally unhelpful and just rude. Unfriendly environment for casual shoppers.
Browsing for cards is a no-go. Went in store to buy a yugioh deck. Asked (politely) if they had any "Ashened" cards, and said that if they did, I would buy whatever they had. I'm pretty casual and don't know all the cards, and their in-store app isn't kept up-to-date to list what they have in stock. I was told in no uncertain terms it was my job to write out a list of cards I wanted to purchase and they were unwilling to provide any input on what cards were available. The owner of the store was there and went a step further saying it would be "a waste of his employee's time." Is it such a crazy idea to want to be able to ask for a specific set of cards and be told if they have them in stock? Is really a "waste of time" to provide the most basic service to customers? Why on earth would I bother going into a store if it requires looking up everything online first anyway? If I look them up online, I'll just buy them online!
I love to support local game stores and have spent hundreds of dollars here on Lorcana boxes, game mats, and card singles, but I'm sorry to say I won't be back. I draw the line at being told me shopping there is a waste of their time.
Five employees behind the counter and two customers shopping in-store and it's a "waste of time" to bring the product they sell to the counter for me to buy it? That's what a store is for! Get over yourselves.
RESPONSE TO OWNER: I'm sorry but this just rings hollow. If I come into a store and say "I'd like to know what if any 'Ashened' cards you have in stock (because your tablet does not work for this and there is no way for me to tell). And that I will buy any and all you have" this is the lowest possible bar for customer service. If I look for and create a specific list of X cards in Y quantities online, how is it different from me just doing the shopping online? I wanted to give you my business and you are willing to go a very long way to justify not taking the most minimal steps to accept it.
I won't continue to be a "waste of your employee's time" by trying to buy the...
Read moreI wouldn't lie, I'm a regular at this shop - and there's good reason for that. Refined Gaming is unique to the area in that they offer more than just sealed product and a place to play. Nick and Jenna, the owners of RGLLC, give a bigger sense of community that is hard to find in most other hobby stores. Five days a week they offer events for three TCG's that are growing insurmountably and there is no bias towards one group or another. People of all ages, race, gender, etc. are welcome with open arms regardless of the game that you play. It's an escape from the mundane to where for 3-4 hours you are surrounded by both staff and other patrons where you can relate and share a passion in card games and not be ridiculed or judged for the hobby you enjoy.
You are always greeted with beautiful murals of local artist, which were done by Tony Touch, on each side of the entering hall as well as a hello from whomever is working at the register! It's not just one person either. Everytime I stop in, I get multiple greetings from the staff! You can really tell the people that work there truly enjoy their job. The store is always clean and well stocked. Prices are fair as well as their offers to buy Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon cards, even bulk!
Another thing I really enjoy about Refined Gaming, is they invest so much into the community. As stated before, they find other local/small businesses to take care of any artwork needed for the store. Every Sunday, Refined runs a free Pokemon tournament so people have a chance to learn about the Pokemon TCG and grow that community. They run giveaways during the school year as raffles for kids' grade cards and even run a Trunk or Treat during the halloween season!
Refined Gaming has been such an integral part to so many people's life and its ever-growing community, and I am beyond thankful that this once-upon-a-time dream has become a...
Read moreLet me start off with saying the woman that was helping me and looking at cards for me was extremely nice and helpful and very polite. It was the other woman that behind the counter that made me feel very uncomfortable and very unwelcome. When I first got there I asked the woman who was dealing with me if they had a few cards from destined rivals I was looking for. The woman very kindly then went and started telling me what destined rivals cards that they have and was being super nice.Mind you there was no other customers waiting behind me to be checked out or anything. The other worker then behind the counter snapped at me a bit for not having a list of cards I was looking for, even though all I did was ask for a few cards and then woman helping me went above and beyond to help me find more cards. Then by accident I pulled my car keys out of my pocket and set them on the counter and the same woman snapped at me again for putting my keys on the counter. Which I am aware you do ask that customers not set things on the counter which I respect and will admit that was my mistake, but coming from a person who also owns a business where customer service is extremely important, there are nicer ways to go about it then how they did an snapping at me. When I was checking out the woman checking me out asked if there were anymore cards I was looking for, which there were but I felt uncomfortable to ask and just wanted to get out of there. I drove over 45 minutes to get there and was spending over $100 and just felt like I was being looked at as an annoyance while I was there. It makes me upset because I love what the shop is doing and focuses on a card game that’s not magic and it is a nice and big store and very clean but I don’t like going to a place where I feel I will be...
