My experience last night was horrible and I didn't even eat here. I came in about 7:30PM and waited for about 10 minutes to be acknowledge and seated which I didn't have a problem with because the hostess was on the phone taking a order. Another lady came up front and walked by the hostess stand. She waited about a minute or 2 before asking can she help someone. I need a table for 2 and if I could be seated in the bar area. She said I could sit in the area but the person working area was really busy so it may take awhile for them to service me. I told her that was fine I didn't mind that. So we follow her up to the bar area where she turned around and said I am not sitting you up here. You can't sit at that big table. So I said can we just sit at the bar she said no. So I said that fine we will take a regular table in the dining room. She walks towards the dining room then detoured to the hostess station. I thought she was looking to see which table was open which I could clearly see into the dining room there was at least 6 tables open. No she started ringing up tickets as I stood there. I didn't say anything. My boyfriend who really was not paying attention because he was watching the game saw the fish tank and went to look at it. The lady looked up you have to wait to be seated. He said ok I am just looking at the fish tank. She then walks behind me turns the The hostess will seat you sign towards him. He looked me then he turned to waiting area and began to watch the game again. The lady then went back to her closing out tickets while I stood there. She didn't say I am getting a table ready for you or anything just kept doing what she was going. I have eaten at this restaurant several other times and always loved the food and service I got. I do understand that there are time when people have off night but I felt as thought she did not wanting at this restaurant because of her behavior and her demeanor towards us. You have...
Read more1 star only so I can post this review. I am feeling so deeply saddened today after my very brief visit to Oriental Garden. I had such high hopes, looking forward to a delicious House Won Ton Soup that was always my favorite up to around 7 years ago when I moved from the area. Today we walked in and were not greeted at all, despite there being two young females behind the desk. My husband asked if we might be seated, and one person slouched upwards from her seat holding a couple of dirty, stained menus and asked "For two ?" - after we said yes, she said "OK, you guys follow me". Oh, the horror of the scene laid before us - multiple tables with plates of partly-eaten food. I said "No thank you" and, on the way out, said to the other person at the desk "Do you realize that there are many tables back there that need to be cleared - that is a most unappetizing sight for incoming guests". She replied "OK, we'll have someone clear it". I told her we were leaving regardless. Aside from the foregoing text, I am almost speechless. Is this what our world has come to ? People who are employed but don't do their job, preferring to chat to one another instead ? Establishments that are unable to maintain their image to attract their customers ? Is it just me that finds this to be a huge disappointment and something that needs to be fixed in our country...
Read moreThe hostess was extremely kind and helpful straight away. She was handling calls, customers (outgoing & incoming) simultaneously and seamlessly, leaving no one to feel they were being ignored or unacknowledged.
This restaurant had zero problem with our Service Dog joining us in their restaurant, which was a major contrast from the restaurant we initially tried to patron, so that right there already started this as a good experience.
Our server was very nice and helpful as well. All staff answered any questions and the server came back to the table to check an order after going to discuss with the chef about a detail of the meal. He brought everything out efficiently, soups and appetizers together then all our meals. He remembered who ordered what in our party of 5 and checked on us multiple times (not an annoying amount of times, though). He brought our check with cookies and boxes for our takeaway. Other staff members also stopped by to check when they saw an empty glass and our server was busy.
We will definitely be back.
The Flaming Appetizer and the Mongolian Beef were phenomenal. I wish I'd had gotten pictures to share, but will next time; this time it was our 15 yr oldest bday and this was his...
