My wife & I walked in as new customers having never been to Rancho Grande Tomball & asked to be seated somewhere quiet & the hostess seated us next to a table of 4 loud teenagers then quickly walked off.
Our waitress came & asked for the drink order before we had time to look at the menu, so I asked for one water. A lady then brough us chips & salsa while we looked over the drink menu. Our waitress returned & we ordered 2 jumbo zombie margaritas with salt & I asked the waitress if we could do ½ frozen & ½ on the rocks. She said yes & walked off. Several minutes later, she returned with 2 jumbo on the rocks margaritas & I asked her why they weren’t ½ & ½ & she said “yes” then walked away. I realized she spoke very little English & was just saying “yes” to everything she didn’t understand.
My wife & I took a sip of our margaritas & they tasted like nothing but orange liqueur. Several minutes later, the waitress returned so I pushed both drinks towards her & said they taste like orange juice & to take them back. She said “no good” & I said yes, no good. I asked her for a tall Dos XX on draft & she said they only carried bottles. I asked for 2 Dos XX with salt & lime for me & my wife & she said “ok, 2 beers” then looked at my wife & asked what she wanted. My wife pointed to me & told her we wanted 2 Dos XX. The girl started laughing & said she thought I wanted 2 beers to fill a tall glass – I was not amused at her not understanding English again. I said again no, we want 2 Dos XX with salt & lime with a frozen mug. She said ok then walked off.
My wife & I decided what we wanted to eat & had planned on ordering our food when she returned with the 2 Dos XX. The girl came back about 5 minutes later with 2 not frozen mugs without salt & 2 Bud Lights in a bottle. I shook my head & told her again we wanted 2 Dos XX & she looked confused but grabbed the Bud Lights & walked away. About 5 minutes later she walked up, set 2 Dos XX down on the table & began to walk away quickly. My wife called out to her & asked if we could order food & the waitress looked her in the eyes, smiled & said “yes” again, then walked away.
All I could do was shake my head as I was now pretty angry & neither of us had placed an order for food yet. We walked out after more than 30 minutes of this waitress not understanding English, messing up every request we had, saying “yes” to everything she didn’t understand, & not taking our food order. We left knowing we should have gone to our normal restaurant & regretted thinking we could try a different place. I guess we should have known better because there was a help wanted sign...
Read moreMy daughter and I called in a to go order and it was repeated and upon picking it up, paying for it, and arriving home (approx. 20 miles) discovered it was wrong. I immediately called them to tell them and the girl who answered argued with me saying no I had ordered beef not chicken. I don't feel as though that is the way you should communicate with a customer. While the food was very good(we have ordered from them before) we had children that didn't eat (wanted chicken) and paid more for something we didn't order, it has left a very bad taste for the establishment thus won't be back soon or feel comfortable recommending it to others. All we were offered was a free queso next time. Thank you. Update manager finally reached out and both apologized and thanked us and offered us a free meal so feel a little bit better about it. Thank you.
Update to my review of approximately a few months ago, heard from the manager apologizing almost immediately and wanted to make it right by offering us another meal free of charge. We recently took advantage of his offer and were very satisfied as the servings were large, meat very tender, very friendly staff. And the chips and queso were also very good. Thank you very much for caring about your customers and thus making it right. We will go back and have recommended it to others. Would give them a 4.75 with this...
Read moreThis was hands down probably the worst Mexican restaurant I have had the displeasure of eating at in the Tomball area.
I had noticed this restaurant while driving on 249 and decided to stop in with my fiancé.
The building itself isn’t bad and inside decoration is nice. The staff that I had the pleasure of dealing with also were nice enough.
The food however was just horrible, I ordered the chicken fajita nachos as an appetizer, and what came out was the saddest plate of nachos I’ve ever seen..
The chips were homemade I believe, with beans on them and melted cheese.. and there was a tablespoon of sour cream and guacamole in the middle.. no tomatoes no pico ..
Fiancé ordered the chicken tacos and I ordered the el grande.
The chicken tacos, the shredded chicken had an artificial Smokey taste to it to a point she wouldn’t even eat it.
My plate was no better, bland and flavorless rice, beans, enchilada, tamale.. none of it was good. Didn’t even want to go boxes just bring me the check, which took another 20 minutes..
I still tipped the waitress though, it wasn’t her fault.
I don’t think I’ll ever return to this place.. it was...
