Barrier Island Burgers — Restaurant in Toms River

Visit on 5/28/2021.

Staff: The interaction with staff was nice but limited. Young so they rather talk to the other employees that take that extra step to ask the customer with the puzzled look on their face if they needed help. Just an observation but they were nice when dealing with them.

Food: So they have a limited size menu which I will attempt to order other things but for the food I did order here goes. The two hamburgers tasted like nothing. No flavor or taste. The fries were also not tasty and had a lot of oil in them. You could even smell the oil inside. Not really edible so we did throw out most of food.

Price: I think for the location, and the food they are offering the price point is right on.

Overall Experience: I give the place a 2 out of 5. The reason for that is they have everything they need to be successful. The location is nice, the building inside and out was clean, colorful, and lively. There was a decent size amount of people coming and going therefore if they could get the quality of food on point it would be a great place to go while near the shore. There is some other things on the menu I would like to try so I will go back. I’ll either update this review when that is done.

My family went to this place randomly on a cold off-season beach trip and we're so grateful we did.

The burgers are absolutely fantastic! I always hate burger places that try to get too fancy with burgers, but this place got it just right. I got the OG (onion burger with dressings on a brioche), and it was perfectly cooked.

Their onion rings are honestly some of the best onion rings I've had ever, so do get that as a side!

And they don't use the cheap so-sweet-it's-sharp ice cream, but quality creamy delicious ice cream (I got a cup to go).

Delicious food aside, they absolutely kill you with kindness and customer service here. The cashier lady made plenty of small talk with my kids, was incredibly hospitable to us, and even the cook came out to bring us extra plates too.

Prices are a bit steep, but then again that's kind of how much eating out is these days (burgers are like $11).

My wife got the Nashville hot, which I wouldn't say is a very worthy sandwich. It was too smokey, but that might be our fault for getting a chicken sandwich at a burger joint.

Zero stars for their inability to run a business. Placed an order at 5:57 for pick up 6:30–6:40. When it still didn’t say they were preparing the order at 6:30, we went over there and found a sign on the door that said “Sorry. Power’s out.” By that point, ordering from anywhere else was way too late for the kids with deliveries after 8, and the grocery store was also closed. So, they left their online ordering open — like how many unfulfiled orders did they accept tonight? 😵‍💫 — and couldn’t be bothered to put a voicemail recording up noting that they would be closed or even so much as a Facebook post on their page. Businesses down the shore have 11 weeks to make 12 months of profit, and yet many can’t seem to figure out even the most rudimentary basics of running a restaurant. Grow up and figure out how to provide even the most modest level of service and communication. Oh, and this is not the first or even second time BIB has been extremely unreliable — similar to this.
