I am rating taco-tastic a 4 for food alone. Their customer service is severely lacking. My boyfriend and I have been loyal customers almost every Tuesday since October... only skipping a few weeks here and there. I am rating the restaurant a 4 because the food is authentic and absolutely delicious, but there have been a few instances in which I have been extremely disappointed with their customer service.
Instance number one occurred about a month ago. I typically order on the way home from work around 8pm, on this particular night we kept receiving a busy signal. When I finally got through to someone I was placed âon holdâ. Their definition of âon holdâ consisted of the phone being placed on the counter for approximately 5 minutes so I could hear everything happening in the restaurant with no one ever returning to take my order. I then continued to try to call back for another 10 minutes and received a busy signal (more than likely the phone remained off the hook on the counter). When I finally placed my order I was told it would be ready in 40 minutes. I then complained that I had been placed on the counter (on hold) for 5 minutes and had continuously tried to place an order for 25 minutes, I was told they were very busy, which I understand, but I find this practice of placing customers âon holdâ very unprofessional.
The second instance occurred a few weeks later, included being told that I could pick up my food in 20 minutes, then waited an additional 25 minutes in the restaurant to pick up my food. I let this one roll off my back, but was extremely frustrated after working an almost 15 hour day.
Finally, the last instance, which has brought me to my decision of not giving taco-tastic anymore of my business, this past Tuesday 6/18/19 we ordered our regular taco Tuesday order. Every time we have placed an order since October on a Tuesday we have received a sufficient amount of chips for my boyfriend and I to share either in our separate containers, or in a little paper bag. Upon getting into my car I noticed the paper bag was not included, so opened the top styrofoam container and noted a small amount of chips, and assumed the same would be in the second container. When I got home we had a total of 10 chips to split between the two of us. I called taco-tastic and spoke to the woman who was at the counter, I was told âwe donât have to give you chips, itâs not stated on the menu, itâs a courtesyâ when I explained to her we have been loyal customers, sometimes multiple times a week since october, I was told again loudly that itâs not stated on the menu and itâs a courtesy they donât have to give them at all, I stated it was ridiculous loudly, and was then hung up on. After being hung up on, I called and asked to speak to a manager. The manager proceeded to argue with me about not having to give chips at all, and when I calmly stated that we had received ample amounts to share every Tuesday for the past 9 months, he went on talking about they recycle. Iâm sorry, but what exactly are you recycling? The chips you give me? After then explaining again that I was confused and frustrated because I had just finished a 15 hour work day, he told me works 16 hours and went on and on about not having to give chips and itâs a courtesy. In all honesty, if he had just said weâre changing the policy and youâre now going to have to pay $1 extra for chips, as he also explained was going to happen, I would have been totally fine. But thatâs not what happened, he just argued with me. As someone who has worked customer service previously, I found this to be poor business practice. I was always told even when the customer is wrong, they are always right.
It really is a shame, because we really love the food at taco tastic and are sad that ultimately this incidence has forced us to make a decision to stop...
Read morePlease don't come here. The food is way overpriced. Its good don't get me wrong, but not 4 dollars a taco good. I dined in with a friend and you order and pay before you sit, that's fine, but why am I already being asked for a tip on the receipt?? I ended up not tipping anything because I rather tip in cash whenever I go out. But they call you to pick up your order? What am I tipping for? I practically work there tf they might as well give you a uniform. Also who's Tania? I never met her. But apparently she was my server because it was on my bill. I got 3 munchies tacos as recommended by the person taking my order, and later ordered a mexican hot dog because I thought it was hilarious. Tell me why it cost me $13.52 for it?? The person placing my order said 2 'hot dogs' came in said order and I thought that was ok since I planned on splitting it with my friend. Bro they literally just sliced it in half, and the fries that came with it were so god awfully mid. You would think that it would AT LEAST taste any good for that price. Please stay away from this gentrified taco joint. Oh and before I forget they charge an additional fee on top of NJ tax for paying through a...
Read moreCouldn't get through to either location by phone for 30 mins. Drive to the location on Fischer. When I went inside the man behind the counter was yelling to someone on the phone and then to someone in the kitchen. This went on for over a minute. A younger man came out of the kitchen and asked if he could take my order. Before I began he said it wouldn't be ready till 730 or after, it was 6. I asked what that means exactly, and he said they are very busy and backed up with orders. Again I asked what 730 or after meant, could it be 830? Then the older man that was yelling got nasty with me and said "he told you 730" and I said that's not what he said. I didn't want to be waiting if its not going to be at a specific time. Then he was even more rude with me and yelled 745 ok?!?! So I left. If you can't handle the pressure of running a business when its busy, find a new profession. This man was totally unprofessional from the second i walked in and would never visit this place again or recommend it to anyone If anything I would tell them to stay away and never patronize this...
