Came in on a Monday evening with my family that includes 2 small children. When our server came to get our drink order I asked if we could go ahead and order the kids meals since they’ll be getting ‘hangry’. Server took the order. Got the drinks. Finally was able to order the meals for myself and husband. Waiting got to be over an hour since being seated and still had not gotten any of our food. Had to flag our server down and asked where our food was. Was told ‘the kitchen is just really backed up.’ Said we’ve been waiting for an hour now for our food to come out, I have children that need to eat. Still after 10 minutes had not received any food nor did our server return to give an update. I told another server that I want to speak with the manager. Still waited another 10 minutes. 2 completely different employees brought all food out at the same time. I repeated that I’m waiting to speak with the manager. Was told ‘That’s me.’ I explained what our server had told us but went on to explain that a table of older adults had come in since we had ordered, sat down they themselves ordered, they had received their food and now were almost done. I stated that I would not be paying for the food. Was told ok and the manager walked off not to return again. Our original server came back to the table with the ticket for the 1 beer that my husband had ordered which we noticed afterwards was rang up at more than the price we were told. I gave some advice regarding facing your customers and communication goes a long way. Asked for boxes for the food since I couldn’t eat due to trying to get my children to eat. Server went and ran the card for the beer brought back the receipt with no boxes. Had to get up and get boxes on my own. I will not be returning to the Topeka Jefferson’s. And honestly I don't know if it’s worth the drive to go to Lawrence. We work hard for our income and I do not appreciate having this kind of experience. Our "waitress" was Sydney who took several minutes to even come to our table initially. We ordered ice tea which was so weak it tasted like water. She took our order and was gone for 15 mins at least, before being seen again. She brought our food and onion rings were freezing, fried pickles were old and cold. But Sydney was no where! We found another server, who was standing by tye window on her phone. Complained about the cold food and she took it back. Sydney brought food again and ran off before we could finish our sentence. We she came finally did come back she rudely said "Are you ok this time?" Like it was a problem we wanted hot food. I asked for the manager and again before I could finish my sentence she was rumming from the table. We were sitting at tables right before the bar area, and we could hear her yelling "NOW THEY WANT A MANAGER". The sarcasm and attitude as she was yelling was very obvious. The bar tender came over stating she was manager and met us with annoyance and attitude like we were bugging her. Remember there was like 6 other people TOTAL in the place other than us 2. Attempted to order a fountain coke on this visit and was told it hadn’t been working for a day or 2 and wasn’t expecting the Coke rep to come out and fix it at this time due to it being after 5pm.
As continued to wait after ordering food, began to notice the dirtiness of the tea and lack of employee/manager/bartender being around and when they were looked upset that they were having to deal with customers.
As can see the table with a binder and box was where the server was sitting and into her own world instead of the customers and bringing money into the business and her pocket.
While it continued then noticed the manager enjoyed to go sit in the window and be on his phone instead of Managing the business.
The food was comped but I wasn’t paying for these frozen wings either way!!! And crunchy outside fries and frozen inside.
DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!! This is not like any other location I’ve ever stepped in!!!
I won’t be back and highly recommend everyone saving there hard earned cash to be spent somewhere that you will get quality food and at least a 2 star service with employees not sitting down at tables and windows...
