I discovered this place today while dropping off mail at the post office down the street (hello, Tax Day). Upon getting home and Googling the name of the shop and finding the online ordering, we ordered the same day and tried it out. Look out, Glory Days!
Great pizza, great service, amazing taste. Price was reasonable, and this pizza is not "chain-like", though Marco's could easily become a nation-wide chain with what they're doing. I like the Hollywood Video combination to allow a video rental (great bargain and time savings). Customer service was outstanding (actually say your name, give good eye contact, and look for the best deal for you, even if you paid on-line for a higher price). Small items, like the cheese packets, have Macro's name on them (unlike another local pizza chain that hands out generic Sam's Club pizza packets). My kids loved the cinnamon pizza (reminds me a bit almost like a sofapia).
The employees appeared to be happy (happy employees mean a better pizza) and the store was clean and organized. Customers before me had smiles on their faces, and a flood of folks going into the neighboring video store makes the Gage location a good place for planning Friday night movies.
Online ordering was a breeze, and no hidden fees for online ordering (unlike some other pizza joints, both big and small). I loved the "old world pepperoni" -- I wasn't sure what it was, but it curled and became crusty and tasty all on its own. As a computer geek, I am impressed with the complexity of the online ordering.
The pizza crust flavoring is done better than the name-brand pizza -- garlic and parmesian cheese. My kids said this is their new favorite pizza.
Great job,...
Read moreUnderwhelming. Im from Boston, we take our subs or "grinders" as we call them, very seriously. 1st of all...props to Marco's for being one of only a couple pizza joints out here that even have subs. However, I can't honestly say that it was that good. The steak was meh. It wasn't browned or grilled well at all, more like boiled beef particles. Im used to shaved or ground steak grilled and browned with it being well seasoned. It was none of that. The flavor was just ok. The sub came with mushrooms and cheese, but because the mushrooms weren't sautéed with the steak, they were freezing cold which made the cheese stop melting and harden up and they made the entire sandwich cold in a few seconds. I sat down to eat, no napkins anywhere in view. Fairly clean other than some wear and tear, but overall good pizza joint atmosphere. It wasn't 10000 degrees inside either like they are in Boston...this place actually had ac. Staff was friendly. Price would have been good, had the steak and cheese been anything but mid. Im going to try this place again because it wasn't bad, ill just have to specify how i want it cooked, it just was not up to my personal preferences and expectations, which if im being honest are very high as I mentioned before. Finding a good sub or good Chinese food in Topeka has been very hard. Anyone from New England would...
