The Ultimate Scoop — Restaurant in Topeka

We traveled all the way from Calgary, thinking we had already tasted the best ice cream at Village Ice Cream—until we found The Ultimate Scoop in Topeka. This is the one.

The coffee crunch and coconut flavors are a surprisingly perfect match—rich, refreshing, and full of character. The funny thing is, the ice cream melted faster than expected, and it wasn’t even about the weather!

If I had one suggestion, it would be to make the ice cream a little less sweet and solid. But the homemade waffle cone? Absolutely a must. Crisp, golden, and the perfect complement to the creamy scoops. Highly recommended for anyone passing through Topeka. 🍦🌈

UPDATE: We returned two days later before ending our trip, but unfortunately arrived at 8:30 p.m. and found they were out of coconut flavor and waffle cones. It would’ve helped if availability was marked on the board along with the prices to avoid disappointment.

That said, it’s clear everything is freshly made, which we really appreciate. As a newly opened shop, keeping up with stock might be a challenge, but it’s key to keeping customers happy. The waffle cone with coconut and apple pie ice cream was excellent. The only problem is that their ice cream melts relatively quickly. I recently ate ice cream a few times at Village Ice Cream in Calgary and their ice cream holds its shape for considerably longer in the same temperature conditions.

UPDATE: we returned two days later and this time they were out of our favorite: coconut ice cream (and many other types) They wouldn’t even let us try a sample anymore. They said it was getting out of hand trying to deal with so many people requesting samples. They were very nice about it and even said we could tell them if we got a scoop and didn’t like it, and I guess replace it with something else, but maybe they could limit customers to 2 samples instead?? Then, when we finally made our decision and asked for a waffle cone with two scoops they told us they were also out of waffle cones! At that point we decided to go to Sheridan’s. I don't know who pooped in Barbs shoes from a review a week ago but shes crazy for not at least 4 starring this place. They have more than enough unique and absolutely delicious selection of creamy homemade ice cream goodness to satiate every sweet tooth in a 50 mile radius. And they rotate their flavors around instead of the same old BS "ooo that 1 seasonal flavor!" ad that basic commercialized places like Baskin Robbins be passing around. Like a Crumbl of the ice cream world, they're sure to keep you wanting to stay tuned and come on in for new and exciting flavor every day, that isnt just chocolate with something different thrown in it.
