It was our first time here, new concept for me, but it was very stressful because I didn't understand the concept, The waitress was very nice, She explained too quickly for my understanding and safe if we need help we can call her over on the computer tablet the table, you just press the button for service. The sushi goes on a conveyor belt and they are little dome containers and there's two plates the top plate with the food on it , is clipped onto a base plate, and they don't tell you that you have to unclick it , snap it off quickly,so there was so many missed opportunities, The food kept coming I kept trying I popped off the top handle of the lid, The dome lid doesn't open fully all the way. The person I was with literally took the entire 2 containers off the conveyor belt, embarrassed I was so frustrated I just wanted to leave I got so emotional because I was tired and hungry I just had a procedure done, And all my friend wanted to do was take me out to eat. We had tried to eat here before, but there was a line so we settle for another restaurant, we decided to try this again during the week. Just then another waitress noticed and rushed over to our table and took care of the domes my friend popped off and slowly showed us again, she's the one that showed us that you hold the base plate and lift unclick it up and out. Then after 30 min ish the experience got a little better. They have a small plate disposal a hole in the wall, at the end of the table as you clear your table and make room for other plates,it's supposed to count how many plates you use and then that's how they calculate your bill?
Self checkout on the tablet at the table. Keep track of your plates take a pencil and paper with you( or cell phone note pad) because unsure if we were charged correctly it said we use 10 plates? I questioned but there's no proof and unsure if the color of plates also make a difference going down the plate disposal? The food is great. You can also order food and drinks on the tablet at the table and your food order comes and stops right at your table on another conveyor belt above the revolving one and the waitress brings your drink. Very futuristic. They even have a robot that can bring your drinks to your table overall after I calm down, I thought this place was pretty cool. Unsure if I'll go again soon but I think in the future I may.. this solely was...
Read moreFirst time review on this place! On Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM, my older sister, Jennifer and I, went to Kura Revolving Sushi Bar at Torrance, California, and I was amazed how this restaurant looks so organized and so calm when we got here. The food was so DELICIOUS (YUM!)😋, $3.99 or $4.00 for one small sushi plate each and maybe the desert probably costs about $6.00, but I didn’t try the ramen because of the very hot weather (sorry about that😅), the service was so comfortable that there exists a robot that sends you drinks your table after you ordered them while you can either press push to open up your sushi and put it on the table or you can order them at a check out machine and select the items you need and they give the food to you by the conveyor belts while you watch short animations of Mutenmaru asking the customer to insert sushi plates as he heads to Washington, D.C. (it reminded me of my trip to Japan and it worked just fine) on, and the atmosphere is out of this world because it brings friends and family together, and this place makes collaborations of Japanese IPs. Currently, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is collaborating with Hololive production with three vtubers from Hololive English: Ninomae Ina’nis (Hololive Myth) Ouro Kronii (Hololive Council and Promise), and Gigi Murin (Hololive Justice) (I missed out a lot on pretty much on other popular Japanese IPs, such as Dragon Ball Super, Naruto, One Piece, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Jujustu Kaisen, Hello Kitty, etc.😭!Sighs Well, there’s always next time.) You can also get the Connectable Acrylic Charms, but to do that, you need to participate in their Bikkura Pon prize system. You can also get prices from collaborations, too. For every 15 sushi plates you eat you’ll receive a randomly selected acrylic charm from the current collection. You can also purchase individual charms (excluding rare ones) at the restaurant, or through online pickup and delivery orders, while supplies last, according to a Google Search. Overall, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is amazing. And, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, thank you for giving me and my Jennifer, and your customers what we want and...
Read moreThis was my first visit to a Kura location, and it was for dinner. We first had to get in queue through the app and wait about an hour and a half to get in (Glad we live nearby). If you want to visit, please download the app first from your home and get in queue. Once you're in position 5 or so, head over to the restaurant. The app feels old and barely works but that's for another review.
Hostess and servers were friendly and welcoming. They first have you sit and then explain how the system works.
Plates with sushi, sashimi, rolls and desserts go around and you grab whichever you want. They are all $2.95+t so choose wisely, as you don't want to be paying $3.50 for 4 little cubes of watermelon.
Food was good but a few items felt dry and old. And depending on where you sit you will be getting either a lot of options or a bunch of empty containers. We sat right before the counter area and already a lot of containers were empty time and time again. So if you like one of the dishes you pick, you're most likely going to have to wait a while before you see it again. They come in pairs only.
They have plenty of drink and dessert options available through the iPad menu on each table. Also, for every 10 plates you get a little animation playing on the screen and after 15 plates you get a gift, like a keychain or something.
They did not have any hand sanitizer anywhere, and I feel like a place that requires you to touch screens and plate containers that everyone gets to touch, should have hand sanitizer on each table, COVID or not. Also some of the containers had a lot of fingerprints and food sticking on the inside, which makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is.
Parking is easy, since it is located in a big street mall with other retail and restaurant options.
All in all it was a good experience but food is better...
