So disappointing. I asked what EXACTLY was on the enchiladas before ordering & was not told lettuce would be on them. It was. Melted into all the cheese & seeped into the sauce. Per my palate this rendered it inedible. I did try a tiny piece of the beef inside & that wasn’t very appetizing either. The side of beans were unbearably bland.
The birria tacos were not like any birria I’ve had before- & not in a good way. Dry & did not come with the side of broth as stated & expected. The food was not kept A. Because I threw it away angrily, irritated to be hungry & out of open options. And more importantly because we’re renovating & didn’t have a fridge to put it in. Food left out all night in the hottest week this summer yet? No way.
We ordered before they closed so I was not able to call in until the next day.
Being that said day was busy for me from 6am on, I wasn’t able to call until evening. Despite the errors being acknowledged I was told “there wasn’t anything they could do” because of the timing. After all of my explanation of what occurred I was offered a discount on a new order. A replacement was in order at least. The manager admitted that the one dish wasn’t properly explained & the other was missing a critical element. Had the customer service been accommodating, I’d have giving them another shot instead of writing this. This sucks to have to say. As a small business owner I love supporting other local businesses but this is just not how you handle errors that impact the customer experience so greatly. I hope this can be a call to them...
Read moreAmazing authentic Mexican food! Came here after seeing the other reviews and pics and were not disappointed. Our waitress was super sweet and helpful. We got the carnitas enchiladas with green sauce and the Tleyudas. The carnitas were tender and flavorful and the enchiladas came topped with avocado, sour cream, lettuce, tomato and a seriously yummy green salsa. Also comes with refried black beans and rice.. The tleyudas is a HUGE pizza style dish with a crispy tortilla base topped with black refried beans, lettuce, Oaxaca cheese and choice of protein. He got beef which was super flavorful. You also get free chips and salsa and I had to get extra because it was sp good! We were sure we'd have to box up some of the Tleyudas but couldn't stop eating it and finished both plates! If we had room we would have gotten some flan but there was no way, maybe next time. They also have parking in the back. Cant wait to return. If you want real Mexican food and are sick of chipotle, come here because it will cost the same and be a bazillion...
Read moreAfter walking around the Wildlife Action Foundation, I worked up a serious appetite. On the drive in, I spotted El Tenate, and something about it instantly called my name. I looked it up and their food looked amazing and let me tell you: it absolutely delivered.
This place is clean, cozy, and the service was great. We had the male waiter who was really sweet.
We ordered: Steak burrito – Solid flavor, but fair warning: it had more rice than steak. If you’re coming for protein, skip the burrito and go for the… Steak tacos – Incredible. Super flavorful, great meat portions, and perfectly cooked.
What I loved most was the sazón. Lo que me gustó de este lugar es el sabor. Los cocineros tienen buen sazón.
Must tries: the horchata, agua de jamaica, and the tres leches cake.
El Tenate is literally just down the block from Wildlife Action Foundation. They have plenty of parking in the back no stress about...
