I'm writing this review after eating in George's multiple times, and having spoke with the staff and owner each time .. I first want to say that I love reviews because of the honesty one can find in reading them...I like to add to that , I do not leave a review unless the spot eas that AMAZING or that LOUSY...
So let's start....the food is typical dinner food... nothing extraordinary, nothing special, but good solid favorites found at any dinner...
Prices are fair...not great...just regular...they are met to equal to everyone else out there, nothing special...
The staff is decent...yes their friendly, yes you'll usually get what you ordered... sometimes the wait staff will forget the requests you asked for like no mayo, or extra butter...to me this bothers me, for the simple fact , it's their job, did they forget about the notes they took?? Idk...maybe their that busy... but I like when a waitress get things right... especially if I'm there often as I usually am...
Ok so here's my issues with Georges...the last time eating there my friend made a comment about how a single pancake costs 50 cents less than a short stack... obviously that's pretty expensive....she flat out told the owner is robbery....well Jodi the owner apparently took this to heart....on the next visit my friend went back with a group of 6 people...when she got up to use the restroom, Jodi approached her table and started to tell the guests what happened last time, then says she's had nightmares ever since....first off Jodi...let me just say, if you have nightmares over one comment made that I very true, you've had some kind of sweet easy going life!! I only wish most of us would cry over the same tiny minor issues....but the harsh fact is we All live in the REAL WORLD and our nightmares are real....we have real issues in this world.... God bless you for having such a coushined life!
Jodi then expresses to my friend that is she would like to continue to eat at her place she can never talk about prices again!! Well EXCUSE ME but I thought this was AMERICA AND our right to FREE SPEECH is listed right there under our first amendment....maybe Jodi came from Iraq where women can not express themselves...I'm not sure... Jodi continues to list the regulations to my friend, apparently one of them was that my baby is TOO LOUD WHEN CRYING.... PLEASE.....any parent out there knows the struggles of going out into the world with babies, toddlers and young children....now mind you i certainly didn't walk into a 5 star establishment with gold trim around the plates....I walked into a dinner!!!! Pancakes and syrup! I knew exactly where I was bringing my baby....and I am mindful of her....but sorry Jodi, again this is AMERICA and if you don't like the sound of my baby or other children, guess you shoulda opened up that 5 star spot..... That comment blows me away....to actually complain about the sound of a baby.....WOW.....can we say Grinch? Cruella DeVille?? Scrouge?? Perhaps Hitler might be best fitting for that type of controlling attitude...
Good luck to you guys at George's...with an attitude like that you won't be around for long.... that'll be me smiling and waving at you when the sign comes down for a new establishment to open and your doors to close down....
Until that day, I urge ALL THE PARENTS OF TORRINGTON to join me for a kids pancake breakfast!!!! Take the kids out Saturday morning!!! Please PLEASE BRING YOUR CRYING BABIES....share that beautiful sound with the women...
Read moreThis is my first time writing a review in the many years I've been dining out. I have had good experiences and bad experiences, but this is definitely one of my worst restaurant experiences. The food was over priced for it's quality. I got a sandwich wrap, and instead of tasting blue cheese dressing I tasted mayonnaise. The fries were completely dry and underseasoned. Also I would never complain about a $2 drink, but less than a can of watered down soda is not worth $2. The waitresses were friendly but very neglectful and often distracted themselves by conversing with each other. They also held an unappealing conversation that made me no longer want to eat my food. I had high expectations for this restaurant; however, I was very disappointed. I will not be returning to this restaurant again, and I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good quality food. I would rather have spent my money...
Read moreFirst, the atmosphere is not very welcoming when you begin to read all of their signs, including on the menu about a $4.99 charge for crabby customers. Just a big turn off right away. Second, their prices have gone way up. I ordered a small orange juice and hash with eggs. I asked the waitress to omit the home fries because there are potatoes in the hash, she did so and offered a grilled tomato substitute which I declined. My bill is $13.93 before tip... For a small OJ, hash, 2 eggs and rye toast. Third, the food. My eggs and toast were OK, average. The hash was lacking any seasoning, it literally tasted like plain corn beef and cut up potatoes, with a lot of fat content that actually made my mouth feel greasy and gave me a stomach ache 1/2 way through my meal. With all the other options in Torrington I will certainly go elsewhere...
