Edit: Each day I go in and see the rules not being enforced will result in a deduction of one star. Today was a blue machine day. Guests were using whatever machine they felt with no regards to the policies and rules set in place. Management and employees need to do better in enforcing policies. My wife recently cancelled due to not feeling safe working out here.
To whomever this may concern,
To start, my wife and I have been of the Torrington branch gym since it opened. We love this gym and its staff and would hate to see anything happen to this gym. My message comes as a concern for the well being of employees and members alike.
Today, my wife and I decided to start back into our gym routine since the opening of gyms on June 17th. We took the time to read up on the club’s guidelines to make certain that we did not violate any policies while getting back into our work out routine. The front desk staff was great and directed us to take a sanitizer bottle and told us that we could take our masks off for our workouts if we wished to do so. It was very clearly labeled which machines and benches could and could not be used today as well. All wonderful and we thank you for those!
Here comes my concern however. Today at about noon, there were two personal trainers on the floor with clients. Harrison and another gentleman, whose name slips my mind (beard with a blue and black hat). Harrison was simply a model for how business should be conducted. He followed all guidelines and rules that the establishment set forth and maintained social distancing with his client. The other gentleman in question had a blatant disregard for every single rule set by the company. My wife and I were using the one open bench for that day. The other one was clearly labeled with a yellow sign to not use it. This guy comes over and takes the sign off for him and his client to use. The issue I have with this is that the bench he used For his client is clearly not 6 or more feet from the open cable machine nor the bench that my wife and I were using. Had he asked my wife and I how much longer we were going to be using the equipment for, he would have found it to be less than another minute and avoided blatantly breaking the rules and putting the members, staff, and club in any sort of harm’s way.
I ask that this be addressed by the club manager. The staff sets an example to the members on how the rules within the gym work. If a staff member is blowing off certain guidelines, it’s only a matter of time before members follow suit as well. It’s by pure luck that I’m not a member of the town’s health department, otherwise the gym would end up getting shut down due to this. Which is the last thing that any of us want to see in this day and age.

Read moreThe gym itself was very nice. When I signed up I was ready and eager to go. Immediately after my first training session they swooped me into a contract. When I asked if I could pay the next day or think about the contract they said “no. It has to be done today.” Not only was I exhausted from the training I had just done, I was extremely out of it to be able to make a decision and they should’ve known that themselves. Apparently that’s how they get you. I haven’t been to the gym in a while and I understand that a payment biweekly is charged for the membership whether you attend the gym or not. However, the training sessions contract does not say that you must be charged the almost 300$ fee whether you attend a session or not. Our trainer cancelled on us and couldn’t attend yet we still had to pay the fee? That doesn’t make any sense considering it doesn’t specify that anywhere in the contract. I went into club 24 recently and spoke to the so called “owner of the gym” and he was just rude and disrespectful. He proceeded to say that what me and my partner wanted was a “waste of time” and not worth his time even though it had absolutely nothing to do with him personally, he proceeded to say while I was on the phone with another lady about cancelling to “hang up the phone” and when I went in person to cancel after they had called and harassed me multiple times and took my entire paycheck that was going towards bills without my permission - he had the audacity to say “I don’t understand why you’re so upset”. If I had gone into your account and taken all of your money without any authorization, you’d probably be upset. Absolutely no apologies, no warnings, no nothing that has helped me today. And I still have to pay within those 60 days of cancelling because that’s the only way to cancel. When I threatened to involve a lawyer they changed it to 30? Which one is it. Theres something going on at club 24 and cancelling shouldn’t be taken personal nor should the managers or owners treat us without respect. Read moreOn June 9 of this year I went to the gym and brought my wife as a guest because it is part of the membership I paid in full. With this membership i could bring a guest so i brought my wife and she had to leave an ID on the front desk as a gym policy. When we finished exercising we went to get her ID (driver's license) to leave but the ID was stolen or someone took it or it was given to the wrong person that were the excuses they gave Us. The manager Kevin Barbosa is irresponsible because apart from the fact that he was very rude with an irresponsible and verbal attitude. I was expecting an attitude of a professional instead he was very rude. He told me that my wife had to have her own membership instead of coming as a guest when I took the promotion that the gym was promoting and i paid off for the entire 9 months and bring a free guest for free was part of the deal. I asked to speak to his superior but he avoided all that. I had to call the police and I had to go to the police department to make a report of the incident and because my wife was afraid of whoever took her driver's license show up in our house since our home address is in the driver's license.
