I really want to like this place. The birria tacos were 5 stars. The nachos were also decent. The lack of 5 stars in this review is for everything else I got. The fish tacos - came on cold raw corn tortillas?? You don’t cook the corn tortillas at all? Grainy and nasty, seemed like it was straight out of the bag. Not even warmed? The contents of the taco was great but the uncooked tortilla is insane to me, who eats them like that? Cheap and lazy. Then my carnitas burrito was the most bland thing I’ve ever had. Was 80% rice. Rice wasn’t spiced hardly at all was just plain rice in a tortilla essentially with a couple of beans. The minuscule amount of pork also didn’t taste like anything, just watery meat. It literally was two bites of pork. There was no “works” on it to speak of. The steak burrito was marginally better. I want to support a small business but how can you be more bland than chipotle while also expecting 5$ more per burrito?? I get food prices went up but spices still exist. You want more money than basic, bland chain food while being even more bland? You also charge extra for sauces when these burritos were inedible without pico de Gallo, sour cream and salsa? Also the markup on elotes (which are good) for delivery is insane. $7 for an ear of corn?? On top of every item also being 40% markup already v the standard price. Very disappointing. I don’t plan to get...
Read morehave been here in the past but this time we went in and it seemed like a music was blasting we couldn't even talk to the counter person so we requested thru lower the music which they did, then a few minutes later a tall guy came out with a ponytail and he just raised the music up again for no reason again it's not a nightclub it's a restaurant so I requested him to lower the music again which he accommodated (BUT I SHOULDNT HAVE HAD TO ASK EVEN ONCE IF YOUR EATING AT A RESTAURANT AND YOU CAN'T TALK TO THE PERSON ACROSS YOU WITHOUT NOISE BLARING IN YOUR EARS THEN THEY SHOULD REALIZE THIS IS NOT A CLUB!!) Food was ok quality has definitely gone down from when I remember last time being here. not happy this time around and both my family and myself agreed that we will not be patronizing this restaurant again. As a side note the tall guy w the ponytail spoke to my son rudely saying that they are closing in an hour and to order fast. This is not a formal restaurant so the food comes out pretty fast so there's really no need for that type of attitude. If you read most of my reviews the majority of them are positive because I liked the place rarely do I put a really negative review and I only do it when I really don't like the place this place I did not like including the experience tonight. Not going back ever again to this specific Sombrero...

The menu no longer has dinner platters. The good stuff is gone! The blackboard 'specials' are gone. The cool vibe is gone. After a $15 taco trio, I had to stop somewhere else for dinner. TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTING!!! Went from 5 to 2 stars. These were two dollar TWO-BITE foodtruck tacos, three at most; not $5... It's a shame. I visited several times when they operated like a restaurant and offered platters worthy of being inside a restaurant. This just wasn't worthy of a storefront. It's streetfood at restaurant prices. I really liked this place and that was a short time ago. No more!
I just ate at their Union Blvd, Totowa location for the first time yesterday and was blown away. The food was great. Everything was extremely fresh. The food came out quickly, but please don't call out fast-food; it's homemade. The place was was so clean it sparked. The decor was perfect with the tastefully painted food truck mural and gorgeous backlit soda bottle display. Ruben walked us through the menu-boards and blackboard specials making sure we felt as if family was preparing a holiday meal. His excitement and passion for building the business from the ground up is an American Dream story that I'll never get tired of hearing. Great Job. Good luck with the new...
