God awful. We get there at 6. Guy says the inside is all booked so we need to sit outside. Ok (but when I take my son to the bathroom midway through dinner, the inside is pretty empty). Then we're seated in the sun. Guy says the fan will mist us. Mist is meager. Sun is unbearable. I ask someone to move the umbrella for more shade - done, thank you. I tell waiter we can order appetizers. He says to just order everything at once because it's so busy (again, the inside is almost empty and nobody but us was seated outside at that point) - strange but ok dude. Then after entrees arrive our waiter asks if we want some parmesan. Yes please. He comes back with a tiny ramekin for all five of us. Meanwhile the waitstaff had moved the umbrella back so that the waitstaff's stand is shaded. Nevermind that after they do so, it's still so hot that no waitstaff even want to be under that shaded waitstand. So we're back in the baking sun. Then the waitstaff all huddle far away in the shade or inside, paying no attention to us literally sweating so bad that I now have a headache. They don't ask us if we want to move tables until we're nearly done with our meal and I'm literally fanning myself with my napkin. I say we would love to move tables. Guess what? They didn't move us. I guess they were hoping we'd say we don't want to bother moving. Everyone else seated outside after us is seated under the covered awnings, away from us (and away from the sun). We ate so fast bc we just wanted to leave. Guys, it's obvious you don't even want to be near my table bc it's so hot. Don't be so lazy, so careless about your clients. You're hot in the shade, imagine us in the sun. Ridiculous. No apologies when served with the bill. I didn't make a scene, just left mad. If they try to defend themselves in response to this review, that will tell you all you...
Read moreSo disappointed….I used to come to Café Vivolo because the food and service were excellent but have been away for a while because of family illness, etc. so was excited to come back for Easter.
Unfortunately it didn’t work out - I made a reservation about a month in advance (because it was a holiday) and specifically said I didn’t want a booth and confirmed the reservation and not wanting a booth a couple of weeks before - however when I arrived – I was shown to a booth. I told the young lady that wasn’t the reservation and after much back and forth with the manager, I ended up in a booth. (I asked for Dean, the owner, but he wasn’t there). The back was crowded and, apparently the manager decided I would be better in a booth (her words) (the other offerings were a long table for six in the entry way and a tiny table in the back that you have to go outside to get to – sorry, but unacceptable. Unfortunately again, that wasn’t the only issue – I ordered the Leg of Lamb & lambchops for my entrée at about $56+ but then was informed there were no more lamb chops – only the leg of lamb (it was only 3 pm in the afternoon) – so I decided to give it a try – again, very disappointed, the leg of lamb was very thinly sliced and heated over and curly – the potatoes were good as was the broccoli rabe. Because of all the "inconveniences”, they comped my margarita (which, btw, wasn’t that good either) - so, for $100 bill for one person (without the cocktail), I had a terrible experience and so sorry this restaurant has changed...
Read moreAbsolutely top tier dining experience. From the moment you walk in the door it is clear that customer service and hospitality are very important to Trattoria Vivolo's staff and management. Lindsey, behind the bar, works as if she has 8 arms, never slowing down or losing her cool despite the tickets piling up. Every single staff member was genuinely engaged, attentive, and thorough. As someone who runs a business in a adjacent industry I am beyond impressed with the staff presentation/service. The main dining room feels like a renovated classic diner? Not from the area so dont know the history but I like it. Outdoor seating area was spacious and clean. Moving from the best food state (NJ) I am still struggling to find places to get the staples in local spots around Westchester County. Happy to say Bruschetta and Chicken Parm are now checked off the list. Bruschetta was a little soft and unwieldy but the end pieces that were a little burnt were perfect. 8/10. How are you supposed to eat bruschetta without making a mess? Chicken parm. Super simple but its crazy how many places will mess it up. Trattoria Vivolo's chicken parm was consistent in size and texture throughout. On the thinner side for a cutlet (preferred). Sauce and spaghetti were on point as well. All ingredients were great, fresh, and well presented. Looking forward to coming back. Oh, right. Tiramisu was difficult to eat an enjoyable pace but please do yourself a favor and slow it down so you can...
