We initially contacted them in March 2021 and signed a lease for a May 18 start date. At the time they seemed very confident in that start date. A month before in mid April, they called to tell us construction wouldnât be finished until June 18. Weâd withdrawn an application on a different apartment and ended our existing lease in reliance on this, so we were looking at three weeks with nowhere to live.
Kevin seems like a nice guy who wanted to help, and he initially made it sound like Avalon would cover all or a significant portion of the cost for an extended stay hotel so we wouldnât be âhomelessâ (as he described it) between apartments. In our next conversation, that somehow changed to âmaybeâ paying for âa night or twoâ in a hotel. For a couple weeks he kept saying he had to talk to some other manager and would see if they could do something for us, but ultimately there was no commitment to helping cover the costs or a firm start date.
We ended up terminating the lease with Avalon, which was obviously the right call because the start date has been pushed back again and again! To top it all off, when we first asked about terminating the lease they threatened to charge us a month of rent for the apartment that didnât exist. It took a very firm letter asking them to put me in contact with their lawyers to get them to back off from that.
I canât believe theyâre running promotions to get people to sign leases soon when the apartments still arenât ready. A previous promotion was trying to get people to start leases in Julyâbut now the apartments arenât available...

Carlos kindness and support and understanding is surely a gift. He is blessed with. I wish only that I could give him 10 stars, this is not a new situation that Carlos has attended to in my apartments each and every time he presents exactly the same with kindness, patience, support, and understanding with the moral compass beyond my understanding in this world, Carlos is a gift to Avalon Harrison, their residents, and truly all humanity. I am so grateful and appreciative to have this experience that Carlos steadily provides for all maintenance issues.    Read moreCan't say enough good things about Avalon Harrison. After our home was destroyed in the floods, we were urgently looking for a place to live for up to a year as they rebuilt our home, so we looked at many apartments. Avalon Harrison stood out - we loved the two bedroom with loft, good for our family and dog. The kitchen is small for our family, but all the appliances are very modern. I use the loft for an office, and there's plenty of storage, particularly for an apartment. They're super dog friendly - there's a great dog run in the back, and a super cute dog spa where you can wash your dogs for free. The gym isn't yet open, but we've got our eye on it and it looks great. Downside is parking - only one spot per family (but you can park in the metered spaces with your other car, or guests) and the parking garage is a bit of a hike to the apartment. The location is fantastic - plenty of restaurants within walking distance, as well as grocery stores, coffee shops, dry cleaners, CVS, post office - feels like we're living in a little city. Also can't say enough about Kevin Sheehan, the property manager who helped us get settled in and helps us with anything else we need...
