Hometown Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Town of Allegany

Has potential...but....so many issues....our first visit was for Sunday breakfast: food and prices were OK but we waited more than 20 minutes for our order to be taken and more than 25 for our food. We also saw others who were seated after we were, but received their food before we did.. Tonight we tried the fish fry. Again, very long wait times. Very disorganized... Bartender didnt know what brands of beer were available. We watched other customers wait for15 minutes just to get menus. At another table of 3, 2 dinners were served and mostly eaten before the 3rd person got her meal. It took 2 servers to deliver 4 glasses of water because there were no trays used. It took 3 to bus a table, each one taking 2 items off of the table....no bus tray or pan....Our server was very sweet but said she had no experience and no training. We heard servers apologizing for long waits and for not having food that was on the menu. Fish was adequate, but cole slaw out of a carton is a no-no. Not sure we...

Service definitely needs some work. We ordered the pretzels for an app and, per the menu, were under the impression it came with beer cheese and mustard dipping sauce. It came out with only the beer cheese, no biggie at first. But then we discovered that it looked like cheese that sat out for awhile. It wasn’t warm, was clumpy on the outer rim and lacked flavor. We were going to ask the server for the mustard but she never came back to check on us and we were too hungry to wait any longer, so we just ate it. The Rachel panini was ok. It’d be better if the dressing came on it instead of the side. We were also expecting homemade chips on the side, but again not a huge deal. We moved to Allegany for work in 2017. We were very disappointed at the variety of non fast food around. When this restaurant opened (within walking distance of where we live now) it was such a blessing to us! Every single thing we've had there from food to custom drinks is amazing! If you've never been, and live in the area you should definitely check this place out. The Cuban sandwich is my favorite. Other tasty menu items to check out are the meatballs, mac & cheese, and the cowboy salsa. Honestly, never had a bad meal here and we eat there a few times a month. Check out the fish fridays too!
