This got long so I'll leave the bullets to start
-super friendly -charming look -good steak and soup -not so good for fish or dessert -refeshingly charming full of character and an old school class you don't see much of these days -old school European type vibes
Walked in exspecting it to not be busy based on google, it was very busy so make reservations unlike alot of places they actually do reservations! The place has a realy neat look it felt like a cool old building had been perfectly preserved. I don't think I've met a friendlier staff even customers were friendly(they get alot of regulars, loyal repeat business is a good sign). Ordered French onion soup to start and a came with cornbread, huge bowl and both very good. We were seated on the patio, it was a cute little patio. We were really in love with this new (to us) place so far but then it went a lil less perfect but still very charming. My spouce got the prime rib which was superb, perfectly cooked great seasoning. I got salmon, it was not great kinda as it was over cooked but I guess mabey I shouldn't get fish at place that seems to realy shine when it comes to meats. We ordered desert to go. I probably should have checked before leaving but we did not get the desserts we ordered and they were the tiniest lil peices of what seemed like pie from the freezer section so that was pretty disappointing I was excited to see banana cream pie at a restaurant too.
So to sum it up there were a couple mistakes (and mistakes can happen anywhere) and even at that I am absolutely 100% going to be coming back and probably soon and would recomend it to others just don't get fish or pie.
There sadly are not many restaurants like this anymore it's a great friendly family owned place that does old school classy things like reservations, candeles and packaging your take home contains for you...this place is a rare gem these days. The look and over all vibe made me feel like i was back in Europe or some how transported to a better period in resturants. Sadly these are not things you see much of any more as snooty over priced hipster spots keep popping up everywhere a classic old fashioned family owned restaurant with heart is such a refreshing thing and I wish more places were like this.
Also it seemed very clean and well kept and like the staff really cared about the place...

Service: 1 star. I dine out frequently. With 630pm reservations the staff was more focused on getting out for the night than serving tables. I had to ask for water three times before water was refilled, I went to get the pitcher myself. I went from before our appetizer was served to completing dinner before the brought my refills. I would have easily ordered a second drink but was never asked if I’d like another. Waiting for our check was the worst. And once it was brought the waitress cleared off two tables of dirty dishes and brought out two stacks of clean dishes before taking the check with a credit card at the end of our table.
The Food: hit or miss. The seafood bisque was bland at best although loaded with potato and clams. French onion was also only par. The glazed pork chop was inadequate for any reasonably priced restaurant. No flavor minus the glaze they poured over it and when ordered medium rare, I was served a well well well WELL done piece tough as shoe leather. The baked sweet potato came out without butter, honey, sour cream or anything. Just baked it and put it on a plate. The prime rib was average, worth ordering again. The swordfish was average or a hair above, also worthy of ordering again although the sugar peas were plain and unseasoned. The ribs on the other hand were incredibly good and the saving grace of the meal for us! (Yes, my family likes to share.)
All in all, I was disappointed in tonight’s experience. I don’t ask for a lot, I’m very forgiving with several members of my family in food service and as an operations professional however the service here was just horrible and most of the food was bland.
I’d like to think I just had a bad experience however I have a feeling the service is typically like that from what I noticed of the how things were being handled and the food is probably the same with some key menu items being good while the rest are there just to...
Read moreI love a restaurant that’s warmly lit and cozy and smells like good food being prepared when you walk in. Adam’s Rib certainly is all that. A venerable place that’s been there forever, they must be doing something right and they do. Our dinner last night was enjoyable with some highs and some lows. Firstly I think a $50 a head restaurant should have tablecloths rather than paper placemats. I know linens are expensive but how about if only on a Friday or Saturday night? The candles on the table are nice. A perfect spicy Bloody Mary was followed by an incredibly delicious artichokes Francais appetizer. Our waitress suggested it and she wasn’t wrong. A light crispy batter and a tasty wine, butter and garlic sauce, capers too. I’d go back just for those for dinner. I had the filet mignon ordered medium rare. It was tender and good but closer to medium for sure and served luke warm. A steakhouse should serve a steak on a hot plate right out of the oven. The waitress felt bad and I didn’t press the matter. The availability of an herby compound butter to accompany a steak would be a step they can take to kick things up a notch. I love a good glass of red wine with a steak and I ordered a super Tuscan. It was delicious but again an opportunity missed. A $10 glass of wine should be poured at the table so that you can see what you’re drinking and in a proper red wine glass for obvious reasons. All in all it was an enjoyable dinner with good service but unfortunately in this day and age four out of five stars doesn’t guarantee...
