A decent selection of items on the menu and the food is alright. I will stop really short of saying that it is "gourmet", or even really good. Biggest sticking point for me is the attitudes. For whatever reason, and like so many other places on Long Island, their attitude sucks. I dont know why businesses on Long Island with horrible attitudes towards their customers are so baffled when they fail and have to shut down. The big tall guy with the blonde spikey hair was obviously irritated simply by the fact we came in. He was loud, brash and obnoxious. It was about 6:20 pm and my wife told him she wanted 3 sandwiches, but could only give him the order for the first 2 as I was still parking the car. When I came in and she told me, I told her she should have walked out. But, we had ordered so might as well go with it. While we were there, another customer came in and asked the same guy if the salad bar was open and he barked back at him in a very annoyed tone "No, I can make you one but its going to take a long time!". The guy ordering voiced his distaste and walked out. We finally got our 3 sandwiches, paid and left. Even the checkout process was loud, brash and obnoxious. The other mope working in the store was slowly serving other customers with an obvious "to hell with you" look on his face, and generally nobody seemed happy to be there. Not the staff or the customers. My advice is to avoid this place unless you are looking for second rate food served to you like you are a second rate person. I dont want to be coddled and catered to, but I wont pay for being treated like a fool. God bless the power of...
Read moreThe 5 star reviews are well earned and though all the food we had catered was amazing I'm here to talk about the southern fried chicken. As a South Carolina native who grew up on fried chicken and chicken slick every Sunday I have searched obsessively for the real deal and folks they have nailed it! 99.9% of the time when you see southern fried anything on a menu it means your taste buds and blood pressure are about to get pummeled by salt, but thank the heavens these guys get it. I can actually taste the buttermilk and spices and the flavor of the chicken itself instead of my mouth getting puckered up by salt. Also, too often at other places I get this skin which is somehow turned into a hard shell around the meat. That ain't right! The skin was perfect, still a part of the meat but peeled right off, and I just can't harp enough on the lack of salt in favor of the buttermilk and spices that support the actual flavor of the food. It wasn't greasy at all yet the meat was tender and soft and most importantly it tasted as good if not better the next day, not dried out at all - the hallmark of great fried chicken!! I will gladly make the trip from Northport for the real...
Read moreWaited almost 15 minutes for somebody to take my order. Standing there while people cut in front, screamed orders, and picked up mobile orders. Finally i order my food, a wrap and a whole pickle, not sliced. I get a wrap thats barely bigger than my phone and a sliced pickle! $13 for one piece of cheese one piece of ham on a wrap and a sliced up pickle in a bag soggy from its own juice. WHO PUTS A PICKLE IN A BAG. THATS SO DUMB! when i complained about people cutting lines and not following the signs i was completely ignored. this place is trash. customer service is trash. and the food is trash. go to another deli where the workers actually...
