Review of Soprano’s – Sunday, February 23rd, 2025

I drove to Soprano’s today, hoping to get one of the last remaining Cinnamon Twists that they make on Fridays. Luckily, there were two left, and I bought them. However, the inconsistent quality of their baked goods is particularly disappointing, and the attitude of complete and utter disregard by the male front counter clerks is shocking.

When I asked about various baked goods, they had no idea what they were and showed no desire to actually provide customer service by finding out answers to my questions. If the counter clerks are going to dismiss customer inquiries, then why not create signs for the baked goods so customers can identify muffins, pastries, and other items? As a Chef, I find it appalling that the staff aren’t better prepared to serve customers or represent Soprano’s professionally. If this is the level of service they’re trained to provide, then it reflects poorly on the owner’s priorities and standards.

I generally enjoy most of their pizzas, but the meatballs are overly salty, tasting as if they’ve been marinating in sea water. Why not use a blend of spices and herbs for flavor instead? Reducing the salt or hiring someone who actually knows how to make meatballs would be a significant improvement.

Outside, as I was getting into my vehicle, I spoke with the kitchen manager (who was on a cigarette break) about the meatballs and the coffee machine cartridge being out of coffee (which happens to be Folgers, a poor choice for quality coffee). My feedback seemed to fall on less-than-receptive ears, suggesting that this dismissive attitude might be how the place is managed overall.

Attention, Mr. Owner: You have a great market and a business that needs your attention and care. If you’re unable or unwilling to manage it properly, hire someone who truly understands the food industry and knows how to train staff effectively. Your establishment has potential, but it requires dedication to consistent quality, improved service, and...

Visited on June 14th, 2021. Ordered 3 subs. Two of them were cold subs and I was told they were good. The Philly Cheese steak I ordered was awful. Not my 1st time eating here, the pizza is usually good and the Baked Goods are Amazing. It was slightly busy when we ordered, so I'm inclined to pass it off as just that. But it was terrible, I couldn't even eat it. Took one bite, spit it out and threw it away. It was just a greasy slapped together mess, they forget to put cheese on it, didn't put the Mayonnaise and lettuce I asked for either. Just tossed a haphazardly made, Very Greasy, Cheesesteak in a roll and wrapped it in aluminum foil. While I'm inclined to pass it off as the person making it, being busy, or having a bad day. I still find it extremely unacceptable to serve inedible garbage to a paying customer. I'll still go back and give another chance, maybe order 🍕. Not sure I'll go back if I end up wasting more money on inedible food though. The Baked Goods are great. It's still a nice place. But getting home and opening that, was really irritating. I live to far to make it worthwhile to drive back and complain and wait for a new sub. I will promptly update this review the next time I get a chance to order...

I was visiting from out of town for my grandsons birthday and wanted to make it special. I ordered pizza and a ricotta cake from here.

The sheet pizza was very good, I would order this again without hesitation.

The cake however, was not so much. I ordered 3 days ahead so there was time for my order to be prepared even though I was told they only required 2 days notice. The cake was not prepared ahead to cool properly and therefore was still hot and shifted during transportation and the entire top of the cake fell off in the box it was a mess! I had to push the top back on and all of the filling was in the bottom of the box. Ok, well looks are not everything it will still taste good, except the bottom of the cake was burnt, black! Not a nice golden brown it was black! We could not even cut it with our fork, it was so disappointing. Good thing we had also purchased cupcakes from Walmart, most people ate them and the portions of cake I had served went in the trash, such a waste! We ended up brining the rest of the cake to a party where everyone was drinking, they probably didn't notice the difference. I am giving 3 stars only because the pizza was good, other than that they...

I was recently passing through Waverly, New York, I noticed that there was a little Italian grocery called Sopranos! I decided to stop in and see what kind of flavors of the day I could muster. I love these little dirty, grimy, Italian food markets. It reminds me of Brooklyn! Everything in there looks amazing! I ended up walking out the door with some nice Biscotti, and they have a lot of different flavors. It was hard to choose, so I purchased a nice assortment. The Italian cheeses are awesome! They make a lot of hot fresh food like sausage and peppers, Pizza, many other dish. The people are very friendly, and you'll definitely leave with a smile on your face, and gain a pound or two while you are there! The next time I pass through Waverly, I will definitely stop in again.
