Carmen’s Cooking — Restaurant in Town of Brighton

¿Por dónde empezar? Como puertorriqueña que soy pienso que TODO estuvo fabuloso. I went with my husband last night just about an hour and a half shy from them closing. They had ran out of many food items already but that did not impede for us to get an excellent treatment (like family) and delicious food from them. Andy, Carmen, Andrew, Allan and Ciara (sorry if I mispelled any of the names) went above and beyond not only for my husband and I but also for other customers that were already in the restaurant. Our food (arroz con gandules, Andrew's Mac 'n Cheese and empanadillas de pollo) were delicious and our drinks Malta endulzada con caña de azúcar, root beer and water were all cold and great. Andrew, Allan, Andy and Carmen stopped by our table at least a few times to check-in on how everything was and all I could say was "Me siento como si estuviese en casa" (I feel like I'm home), and indeed that's how I felt. The ambiance (bolero music) was perfect choice for the evening and they all greeted each customer warmly. My husband and I were so impressed by everything. Restaurant clean, attention to detail, friendly and warm customer service and delicious food and drinks. At the end of the night we spent some time talking with Andy, Allan and Ciara and then also with Andrew and Carmen. They treated us like family sharing family stories (as my husband and I are expecting our first child) and stories from their travels to Puerto Rico after my husband and I shared ours. All in all, we had a magical experience. They made it work even with the few food items they had ready. I was even craving "arroz con gandules" and to my surprise they cater to my craving even though they didn't have to. So glad we went there last night as a belated 3 Kings' Day celebratory dinner. We will definitely be back and bring family and friends. Gracias por todo....

I called into the store and it took a while for them to answer, I figured they were busy and I hung up just as someone picked up the phone. I figured they only took mobile orders. Just a few minutes later THEY CALLED ME BACK! This was a surprise to me because when do you ever get a call back from a restaurant that missed you? A very pleasant guy placed my order over the phone with no problems. I went to the restaurant and was greeted right as I walked in the door with my food waiting for me. My friend and I had a good conversation with the man who took my order over the phone but I missed his name. Either way I got my order, came home, and ate my amazing meal not too long ago. I had to come to google to tell everyone how great my c cubed sandwich was!! (I got an interesting story about the name of the sandwich too)They even made the sandwich a bit special for me. Absolutely amazing 🤩! We were visiting Rochester for the first time and i am so glad i came across this place. From the moment we entered we were greeted with welcoming friendly service by Carmens husband, who I believe his name was Andy. They took great care with our food to not cross contaminate due to allergies my son has. The food was sooooo delicious. We tried the arroz con gandules, pernil, chicken chunkies with bbq guava sauce (my son loved this, we even purchased a bottle of the sauce), beef stew, white rice n beans, aranas (clever spin on tostones, these are shredded), beef empanadas and alcapurrias. Everything was so fresh and delicious. They were very attentive, Carmen came out to check on how we liked the food. I felt at home. It was a beautiful experience. And the place was clean.
