I ordered a single take out order of chicken, and shrimp fajitas from Mesquite Grill. When I arrived to pick up my order, I told the hostess I wanted to add an order of guacamole. The young lady asked me if I wanted the small side, or the larger order. When I asked what the size difference was, she told me the small size was like a small side cup, and the larger order was 16 ounces. I decided on the larger 16 ounce order for ten dollars. As for the quality of the food I received; The fajitas were very tasty, and not over salty, and the guacamole was very good, and balanced, with no single ingredient overpowering the others. Unfortunately, that's where the compliments end. My order did not contain any tortillas (an important ingredient for fajitas!), and as you can see from the picture, the container for the guacamole was indeed a 16 ounce size, however, it was less than half full. Here's the kicker...When I called the restaurant to let them know about the missing tortillas, and the half filled cup of guacamole, the person who answered the phone said, and I quote "we were really busy with take out orders, and someone must have forgot to put the tortillas in." When I then asked about the amount of guacamole in what was described as 16 ounces, I was met with silence on the other end of the phone. No apology. No offer to put the manager on the phone. No attempt at all to acknowledge their mistake, or make things right. Just a basic 'oh well, we were busy, so we forgot'. It certainly didn’t appear to be busy at 5:15 on Saturday evening with a near empty dining room, and no other take out orders waiting next to mine. As for the guacamole...that's not 'shrinkflation', it's just plain shortchanging the customer. If you're going to offer, and accept take out orders, you really do need to take the extra ten seconds to ensure the order is correct, and complete. She was getting takeout by Mesquite Grill all of us put in our order with her and she called it in along with another sister the young man that took the phone call had a heavy accent butpleasant, my sister’s went over the order three times because of the communication barrier and I will say the young man was a very nice person no issue with him although when the order was picked up By my two sisters, I got a call that I had to go pick up my husband‘s dinner because they left it out. We understand mistakes happen. It was putting us out a little as it was raining Heavily. I ran in to pick the missing dinner up. There was nobody at the front. The young man was there but once again there was a communication barrier. He had no idea what I was talking about. Then I walked a little bit in the back and a woman came out. She spoke English fine. I don’t quite remember what her name was but my sisters, when they called in the mistake, they believe she said her name was Sarah or something in any case she seemed angry and volatile when I went to pick up the missing order and it surprised me. She almost threw the bag at me never apologized. When I got back to my sister house, I told them and they said she was angry on the phone when they called in with the missing order mistake. I called her to let her know it was upsetting we had spent almost $200 and why were we treated so badly? She started yelling. I decided to hang up the phone as this is very unprofessional. Read moreI have ordered the same meal from this restaurant 18 times including my order today. I’ve only had 1 other incident with the food I will not disclose. Today I ordered the same meal and the avocado looked really bad. I respectfully called back and they apologized and said they would make me a new order. I drive back, pick it up and get home and the avocado is practically the same. I’m aware of the different stages of avocado and of the 18 times I’ve ordered it NEVER looked like this.
