Asian pearl — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

The food was just ok for the price of the food. There was a bug flying around and then multiple bugs flying around. It was very unenjoyable atmosphere when trying to eat. We were so turned off by the bugs. Our bill was 66 dollars for lunch. It was so not worth it. I’m waiting for the manager to give me a call. The Pepsi didn’t even taste right. There was no manager on premises. It just made me wonder what their kitchen looked like and why we were the only ones there at lunch. We had maybe two bites of food. We were so turned off. We will not be going back to waste our money there. I don’t think I’ve ever paid that much for a Chinese dinner!!! The manager called me back and said I was mean for writing a review about them. I don’t feel I was being mean because I didn’t want people to experience the same thing that happened to us. He wouldn’t refund me my money because something had to be wrong with the food or the bugs had to be found in our food. He said most of the people don’t eat in there, they do take out primarily. I told him my husband and I wanted to sit down in a chinese restaurant and have the lunch there. He said that bugs wouldn’t bother him flying around while eating food. To each his own. There was an insane amount of hair in our food, not a single strand but entire clumps distributed so evenly in my friends dish that we thought it was an ingredient. There was also hair in another dish. When we (very politely) alerted the server to this, he was immediately combative and said “are you serious?” and insinuated that we had planted it there ourselves. The server swore that the chef was bald, and then later on a different server said the chef has short hair…which one is it? When we asked they could take the rest of the food from the kitchen off our check, because having clumps of hair in two of our dishes made us question the quality of the rest of the food, they called the cops on us. We were late for work and we didn’t have time to wait for the cops so we had to pay. Also my friend, who had the food with the most hair (see photo below) and was doing most of the negotiating is a young black man. they were being incredibly disrespectful, yelling at him while he spoke very quietly and politely and we can’t help but think if he was white they wouldn’t have been so cruel. They also tried to make him pay in cash because they didn’t trust him paying with card? Miso soup was...

Sometimes they are really good other time they’re not… so I’d describe it as hit or miss, but with me they have a higher hit rate especially with their pad thai! it’s really good and the veggies are very crispy. wish it was a little saucier and spicier but i’m happy enough to have fresh veg :) I’ve eaten here probably 10+ times. The sushi is good for the price, and I like some of the chinese food. I come here mostly for the thai food tho.

wish there was more transparency on their menu about gluten free options, as i don’t have celiacs but I do have to avoid fructans in wheat flour. but also celiacs have a hard time… so labeling the menu for allergens...
