Mediocre drinks and stupid prices aside....this place has a nice water view and good entertainment. HOWEVER the owner is such a nasty human being that I'd be perfectly happy to never give another dollar to hang out at this bar ever again. Especially when the dock is directly next to the bar and you could have just as good of a time hearing the music from there. This woman came over to me, absolutely nothing on her identifying that she was employed at or owned the bar, and started reaming me out for "blocking the reserved table view". My back was against a tent pole and the woman she referred to sitting at the table next to me said I wasn't blocking her view at all and I was ok (ps the table was also empty for the majority of the show). The owner continued to threaten me and say she was going to call security and I said that's perfectly fine you can call them I'd be happy to talk to them because the only person here who has a problem is you. She came off like some random belligerently drunk woman looking for a problem so I was calm the whole time and brushed it off. She called 911 and I was eventually asked to have a chat outside with the police. The police officer couldn't have been nicer and let's just say that it's clear this woman has a reputation. If this story sounds unbelievable to you, believe me, it WAS unbelievable. No skin off my nose to never go back but it's a shame she denied her bartenders and performers more money over something so silly.
RESPONSE As I said, a woman came over and spoke to me in a very nasty unprofessional tone and never identified herself as an employee of your bar so how was I supposed to know she wasn’t another patron on a power trip?
My conversation with the police as well as the bartender led me to believe she was the owner. Not to mention she looks a heck of a lot like one of your co owners Donna….A little bit of professionalism on her part would have gone a LONG way and this whole situation could have been avoided.
I not once raised my voice and maintained my composure as I was being singled out in an aggressive manner for no reason. Maybe a customer service class on how to treat people for that person...
Read moreCherry's on The Bay is a restaurant that left me with mixed feelings. While the atmosphere and lively DJ created an enjoyable ambiance, there were several aspects that fell short of expectations, leading me to give it an overall rating of 3.
Let's start with the positives. The restaurant's location right on the bay is undeniably its saving grace. The picturesque view and lively atmosphere created by the DJ set a wonderful backdrop for a memorable dining experience. The combination of the beautiful surroundings and the energetic music contributed to an enjoyable evening.
However, my experience with the food and service left much to be desired. The Caesar salad I ordered was a disappointment. It was excessively dominated by the overpowering amount of parmesan they added to it. The excessive cheese took away from the balance of flavors that a well-made Caesar salad should have.
Moreover, the service itself was lacking. I had to specifically request a lime for my shot of tequila, which should have been provided without needing to ask. Additionally, I found myself repeatedly asking the server for a refill on my water, but unfortunately, it never arrived. This lack of attentiveness and follow-through was disappointing.
Despite these shortcomings, the vibrant atmosphere and the DJ's performance created an upbeat and enjoyable environment. It's worth noting that if you prioritize a lively ambiance and scenic views, Cherry's on The Bay might still be worth a visit. However, it's important to set your expectations accordingly, particularly when it comes to the food and service aspects.
Overall, Cherry's on The Bay has its strengths in terms of atmosphere, but it falls short in other key areas. With improvements in the food quality and service, this restaurant could reach its full potential and offer a more well-rounded experience...
Read moreI guess ill start with the performance piece. The shows I went to here were fun to watch and even though it was about giving out money, I still enjoyed myself. Next the staff. The wait staff was very nice but they seemed so fast to move from table to table, it could be because it was getting very crowded and I felt like maybe they were overwhelmed by it all. But my main reason why I'm giving it 3 stars is because the food was just ok but then again it is more like "bar food" that they sell there so I can see how it wouldn't be like an actual restaurant like quality. The drinks were kind of small but did pack a good punch. Then there was the set up of it. The show to the stage which was a bit strange to me but I guess when you have a limited amount of space, I guess that's how it had to be. The bathrooms there too were extremely small but like I said, also not their choice given the size of the place. I wish they did have more space. All in all, would I go back? Hell yes! I had alot of fun. This was my first trip to Fire island ever and I can honestly say that I felt like I was in a different planet where I didn't feel like I was being judged or criticized and I appreciated that feeling. So much love within...
