If you need to plan a party then look no further. I was looking at several Italian restaurants for a surprise birthday party for my husband. Did not feel comfortable with what the others were offering for the prices they were charging and then I looked into Setauket Pastaria. After all I always ordered my take out food from there and the food is always excellent. So I sat down with Elena. She went over everything with me and decided to book my party of 20 guests there. The pricing was quite fair. I touched base with Elena several times beforehand and she always assured me that everything will be fine. Well, all my guests had an excellent time. I knew the party would be good but I was not expecting EXCEPTIONAL! The food was outstanding as well as the service provided by Elena and Yuresky who were our servers and went above and beyond to cater to all of my guests needs. One of my guests has Celiac Disease and needed her food made Gluten Free. No problem. In fact my guest told me that they definitely prepared her gluten free food correctly because she had no stomach issues the next day. Every one of my guests were given the gold star treatment. Elena went out of her way to accommodate everyone’s needs and preferences. The chefs did an amazing job. My guests were texting and calling me days after telling me how wonderful the party was and specifically mentioned the food and service. In addition I just wanted to add that whenever I come in for my take out order I am always greeted by the friendly faces of Collin and Jhendili (we call him “Jen” for short). They give the gold star treatment on the take out end. Thank you Setauket Pastaria!!!! You are...
Read moreHonestly, it's been a long time since I was so disappointed in a pizzeria.
We ordered last night on Doordash, and a decently large order. Food shows up, and we immediately realize there are errors. We ordered a Sicilian slice, but received a regular slice, the mozzarella sticks are no where to be seen, the alfredo pasta has no cheese on top (which was requested and paid extra for), and the pizza was supposed to be full extra cheese, half bacon and onion...the entire pie is bacon and onion.
We called the restaurant instead of immediately jumping to a refund from DD, and they said they were sorry for the errors, and would send someone out with replacements for the mozzarella sticks and the pie. Fantastic. I can live with that, everyone makes mistakes.
An hour later, my husband calls back to ask for an ETA, and is told that they contacted DD to initiate a refund (that didn't even cover the errors BTW), because they had decided, after telling us they were sending new food, that we were too far away. I'm fully aware we're outside the normal delivery area, but this wasn't our error, and it wasn't DDs, it was the restaurant's error, and they apparently didn't care enough to fix it, nor to call us and say so. They waited until we called them again.
The worst part? The food we did receive was actually pretty good, hence the 2 stars instead of 1, but I am so turned off by this appallingly unprofessional behavior that I doubt we'll ever order again, and I'd advise anyone I know not to...
Read moreWhen I moved to Stony Brook 7 years ago my landlord suggested this pizza place. Since then I have tried many slices in the area and this place is my favorite by a large margin. Consistency: For 7 years I have had a very consistent product from here any day of the week Speed: Orders are always filled in a reasonable amount of time given the order time. With several ovens and a well staffed kitchen I rarely feel like I'm waiting too long. Product: This is quality pizza. I have some sensitive eaters and they have the least issue with heartburn with this pizza. It's clear that the quality of the ingredients is better than competitors.
Suggested Products: Classic Margarita Pie: This pie is a bit different from other margaritas I've had. By adding in some shredded cheese and dried basil to the areas of the pizza that are light on coverage they achieve a pizza that is mouthwatering for every bite. Grandma Pie: This Long Island specialty is an homage to old Italian grandmas. I find that this location is the one that feels the most comforting/most homestyle. Some other high end pizza places try and thin out the crust or make it more like there other offerings but this slice is true to the roots. Specialty Pies: I'm a big fan of the chicken/tomato and the chicken/red pepper. These pies are loaded and the balsamic topping is a...
