WEI SUSHI — Restaurant in Town of Canajoharie

I have to edit my original glowing review from 5 stars to 3 stars for right now because the quality has just been going down so much the last few weeks and very inconsistent. I still order a few times a week but its putting me off a bit now. Seems like they are using cheaper ingredients. The nori used to be good quality, paper thin and crisp but the last 3 times i got sushi the nori is cheap, thick, and chewy. It's not appetizing. Sometimes the food isnt cooked right. Depends what time of day. For example the fried sweet potato during lunch time is usually cooked correctly, it's good and tender but when I order in the evenings, many times, i bite into hard and raw sweet potato. They put less cream cheese in everything than they used to. They don't cook food properly at times. The "crab" and white fish have smelled way too fishy recently too. Tuna was off last time as well. But then there's still days where everything is perfect. So hopefully they can work things out and get back to the quality and consistency they opened with because ive had not issues up until Mid May 2025. But please that cheap nori is has to go. Such a great experience from start to finish. We ordered take out but were still able to experience the 5 star service from the employees at this restaurant during the short time we were inside picking up our food. Staff were very patient & friendly and the food was amazing. I wasn’t sure what to expect from a sushi restaurant in Canajoharie, but we were definitely pleasantly surprised by the menu options & quality of our food. We ordered a crunchy roll but made a substitution for the fish, a crab roll, gyoza, and miso soup. Everything was amazing. The crunchy roll is probably my new favorite! Gyoza was to die for and the sauce that comes with it just elevated the dish even more. The pieces of sushi were fairly large compared to other restaurants. My only suggestion would be to use a bit less rice on the crab roll, but that is just based on personal preference. Prices were very fair, especially considering the quality & quantity of food provided; Looking on DoorDash, menu items were a bit more expensive so I recommend calling to order to save some money. Definitely recommend trying this restaurant. I will definitely be a regular customer...

My boyfriend and I are consistent regulars at Wei Sushi and we have never tasted anything that was less than amazing! From the sushi to my favorite Chicken Udon Noodles (Wei himself even remembers my usual order), you cannot go wrong if Sushi is a favorite type of food for you. The owner, Wei, is a gracious, warm, and professional head of the restaurant.
