As a relocated native NYC-er, I was concerned that I would not be able to find good bagels in Carmel. However, at the Holiday at The Lake Annual Parade, some enterprising teenagers in elf suits were handing out red and green Christmas ball-shaped bagels. I took a green one and it was delicious! The kids said they were from Carmel Bagel, and right then I knew I had to find this place. Occupying an unassuming building on Rte 52, near the Shop Rite Mall, Carmel Bagel is a mecca for great hand-rolled and boiled bagels and other pastries, sandwiches, catering, you name it. They also have a Northern outpost also on Rte 52, closer to Kent Primary School. They are clearly civic-minded in their hiring of local teenagers, providing free bagels to the parade, local schools, etc. Carmel Bagel is a local institution that earns its reputation every day! Read moreLocal deli with all types of menu items. They make fresh bagels and all types of breakfast items as well as burgers and wings. It’s a bit confusing. They serve coffee and you can get fries with that.
This is your local little family owned-ish deli (a lot of people call it bagelicious). Prices are decent, coffee is ok. Bagels are fine. Nothing extraordinary but if you’re in Carmel and want basically anything even a dozen eggs, this is your place to go to.
A lot of parents come here with their kids after football/soccer/baseball practice and it does get busy.
The reason I’m not a huge fan of this place is because it just has way too many menu items it gets confusing. The quality isn’t anything out of this world nor extraordinary. A little basic for my taste buds.
Everyone is very nice and welcoming. Other than that sure,...
Read moreI have been a long time customer of Carmel Bagel until this morning. For the third time I was basically dismissed by the staff after waiting at least 15 minutes. The management does not work on the weekends, so therefore, it is a nightmare to go into to get a sandwich. They need to have one person stay at the register and not leave to go and cook. On one occasion, I had a big order and was given a simple brown bag. As I attempted to open my car door, the bag ripped and I lost everything. The employee just stood there and smoked a cigarette.
My suggestion to the ownership is to have a qualified manager run the business even on the weekends. I will go another bagel shop from now on and tell my friends of the extremely poor service at...
