Izumi Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Carmel

Went in with my friends on a saturday night for dinner. There was one hibachi table there and 2 others in the regular dining area. We sat in the regular dining area. All we ordered was sushi and one order of dumplings. We got our salads pretty fast, but waited another 45 minutes for our sushi. When we got it we asked the girl who brought it over for sides of spicy mayo, and let her know we were still waiting on our dumplings. She waited to eat our sushi until she brought the spicy mayo. After 10 minutes of waiting, we looked and saw her cleaning menus. I always respect side work but we had asked for something and she never brought it to us. My friend had to go up to the front and ask for a side of spicy mayo. You should never have to do that in a restaurant. After we all finished eating, I went up and just told the lady to take the dumplings off the bill because they were clearly not coming. All she did was look at me say okay and walk away. Not one worker there apologized after we complained after i said something, and when the lady came to bring our checks and clear our plates. We visited this restaurant on a Friday evening around 5:30 pm, there were two tables occupied in the restaurant part, but at the hibachi tables it was empty. At about 7:00 p.m. when we were getting ready to leave, one more hibachi table filled up. I like the idea that they have a lite menu, pay a little less and get a smaller portion. My son order that, and said he was satisfied, full, but not overfilled. Although I did not order that from the menu, I found that the servings of fried rice and noodles and chicken were small compared to other hibachi restaurants. The salad and dressing was delicious, the soup is good too. we ordered tempora which I have not done in a long time, that was well made and tasty also. my daughter, 12 years old, ordered the California roll. She said that was very good, my wife agreed. A few pieces of my chicken tasted like they were either freezer burned or refrigerated but not covered if that makes sense. The restaurant is very clean, the staff is very friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant...

She wanted to make sure I was picking up from the correct location, which was fine. I let her know I was stuck in traffic and might not be able to pick up for about an hour. That’s when she suddenly told me I couldn't order from the lunch menu—even though I placed the order before the 2:45 PM cutoff—because I wouldn't arrive until after that time. I asked why the pickup time mattered if I placed the order on time, and her response was something vague about "quality," which didn’t make sense to me. For context, I’ve waited almost two hours for takeout from this place before without complaining, understanding they were busy. But this time, the interaction felt unnecessarily rigid and rude.
