Athens Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Cheektowaga

I recommended this place to some family and friends because I enjoyed my chicken souvlaki dinner I have ordered through door dash, the food was very good and a nice size portion. about a week later my niece and I were together and she called and placed an order for pickup, she stated that she was allergic to green peppers and please make sure they did not put any on her chicken souvlaki salad and no tomatos either. When she went to pick up her order she looked inside the container and seen there were tomatos on the salad, she told the waitress that she ordered no tomatoes or green peppers, the waitress took the container in the back pulled the tomatos off and gave it back to her, my niece asked if she could have another salad made because she didn't want to take a chance of some still remaining. She was told no because the kitchen was closing and there wasn't enough time. It was 2:35 and they closed at 3 pm, the place was still full of people eating, they had time to remake her food correctly. They overcharged her and told her the prices went up and did not give her a reciept. When she got home and started eating her salad, she had an allergic reaction, green peppers were also in the salad, she had to use her epipen. She took pictures of the remaining salad with the peppers in it and called the restaurant, of course by now they were closed so she was not able to speak to the owner/manager and was told that they would have the manager call her the next day, after waiting a few days and calling several times, still unable to speak with the owner, she went there. The owner was VERY rude and was laughing about it making excuses about having different cooks and orders get screwed up, my niece told her she had an allergic reaction and had to use her epipen and said she could have died, The owner replied "PEOPLE DIE EVERYDAY". Shocked by that response and her rudeness my niece said she was calling her lawyer, and the owner's reply was give me his name I will call him. I am so sorry I recommended this place to her and others, despite the food being good that I had, customer service is far more important and I can not order from here again. Absolutely ridiculously poor management that thinks ripping off the elderly is acceptable. My father-in-law came in with a senior coupon provided it to the waitress and was given a menu by said waitress she came back took their orders he ordered the fish fry The waitress failed to put it in as the senior fish fry and put it in as the full priced regular one served him that even though he has not been there very often and would have no idea what the portion size is and then when they proceeded to charge my fiance and elderly father in law for the meal and naturally they were confused on why they were being charged so much for a senior fish fry they were supposed to be getting for cheap The waitress proceeded to blame my elderly father in law and said it was his fault because he never told her. Excuse me ?!

And then when management was alerted they proceeded to defend the waitress and also blame my father in law despite a clear presentation of the facts. That is extremely poor customer care and goes to show what this pos restaurant actually thinks of senior citizens!.

Me and mine will never spend another dime in your joke of an establishment. And you should be ashamed of yourselves.

EDIT: and here we are a week later and zero response from management. Funny though how they respond to all their positive reviews though. What a joke. I'll be filing a complaint with the better...

Great service. The food was tasty. Large portions. I ordered the meatloaf dinner. Came with meatloaf (very good, moist, 3 large slices), a choice of potatoe (I chose mashed), a vegetable, and a choice of soup or salad (my choice, chili). Dinner came with a grilled roll as well. My guest ordered the Goulash (huge bowl!) Included soup or salad with roll. Both of us were very pleased. We have both been here many times, but never together. We both agreed that we have never been disappointed during our visits. So I thought they were long over due for one of my posted reviews. I would recommend coming here at any time of the day as I have enjoyed many meals at various times of the day. The staff here are very kind and attenative. The establishment is very clean. A lot of Great Greek restaurants in Western NY. And this one ranks with the ones on top. They offer a large menu selection. Sorry I can't give any info on the desserts they offer as I'm not much of a dessert guy. But judging on everything else I have ordered in the past and have thoroughly enjoyed. I would be very surprised if they actually were a dissapointment. Please if anyone has had their desserts please leave a comment or review.
