Reading some of the reviews here based on the recent news coverage by people who've never set foot in this place makes me sick. This is all the result of 2 disgruntled, mentally unstable patrons who were thrown out for being obnoxious drunks--not for being Trump supporters as they're alleging. This place does deserve 5 stars but even so I really just want to get this review up to show support for Israel and his family that own Cancun Inn. They're absolutely great people who I've been getting food from since they had a small place in New Windsor like 20 years ago, and they deserve much better than this.
My favorite for food here is the fajitas. This isn't high concept, haute cuisine mind you: it's down-to-earth, homey Mexican food. The chicken and steak I usually get are very good, the portion is enough for lunch the next day, and they're happy to sub out items (like rice exchanged for some nice mixed veggies) upon request. The guacamole, is light, limey and delicious; we sometimes get it as an appetizer as well. Their homemade chips are also really good and it pairs nicely with their basic tomato salsa (has a bit of a kick too). With entrees you get a salad which sounds like an afterthought at a Mexican place. It isn't. The homemade tequila dressing--something like a peppery vinagrette--is tasty, the greens are a better quality than you'll find at much classier restaurants, and the portion is considerable for something thrown in free. On top of the food, the sangria is excellent--packed with fruit and some wine/fruity liquers that are extremely well hidden (beware). My mom loves it and she rarely if ever drinks elsewhere. To cap every meal off, all the adults at a table get the mule kick which is a shot of tequila, amaretto and peach schnapps. It's not only a nice touch but delicious.
Seriously people, don't mix your food and your politics. It's not good for your appetite. Ironically enough, their business is booming even more now than before because of all of this coverage, and the ensuing flood of old and new patrons who wanted to actually check the place out. They're going to come out of this better, and the people harassing them will inevitably pay for their sins as...

Jenn, one of the talented bartenders, crafts incredible margaritas—the spicy jalapeño margarita is my personal favorite. It’s the perfect blend of heat and refreshment, making it a must-try. The food at the Cancun Inn is spectacular. The ceviche, made with mahi-mahi and shrimp, is delicious—so fresh and flavorful!. The fish tacos are another favorite, with perfectly cooked, flaky fish complemented by vibrant toppings. Another one of my favorites, the seafood enchilada, is a dish you’ll dream about long after your visit. One of the things that sets the Cancun Inn apart is the incredible staff.    Read moreHow to describe not only a wonderful meal in a wonderful setting with good friends new and old? Pulling into the small gravel parking lot edged with seemingly wild growth plants and flowers (more on these later) belied the experience that awaited a first-timer such as myself, my companions on the other hand had been here many times. Of our large group I was the first to enter and was greeted by the smiling face of Israel, the owner. We asked for seating on the deck and he escorted there and introduced us to Holly, our waitress. Friendly and gregarious, she was full of great advice on drink and menu choices and after very leisurely enjoying our cocktails we placed our orders. She took all 15 orders and after another leisurely round of drink, salads and appetizer our meals arrived exactly as ordered. Everything looked fantastic and tasted amazing. Even though it was Saturday night we never felt rushed because we weren't. We're a loud but fun bunch and Holly and Israel only added to the sense of this being an experience rather than just dinner at another restaurant where you order, you eat, you pay, you go. After a complimentary after dinner drink Israel came to us and sincerely wanted to know if we had enjoyed ourselves and our meals. We had of course. He then stayed and told us stories while he performed a short magic act that had us in stitches. After three hours we paid our tab and reluctantly left making plans for the next time we'd visit Cancun. As we were leaving I noticed Holly heading down the stairs to the parking lot. Remember the wild plants edging the lot? She was clipping fresh herbs to bring back to...
