I read the menu and couldn't wait to try the food here, the descriptions sounded so good!! My friend drove an hour to get this food and paid $75 and it was freaking terrible. We ordered the pretzel with beer cheese, the brussel sprouts, the Philly cheese steak egg rolls, the fish fry, and the spicy nutty burger. We also had a side of truffle parmesan fries and sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were actually good. The truffle fries are frozen french fries that were so completely saturated in oil that they were all stuck together in one giant clump. The burger was okay, nothing to write home about but what was disappointing is the toppings, wilted lettuce, mushy tomato, it was supposed to come with peanut butter and jalapeno jam, I didn't see any peanut butter at all and the jalapeno jam was the size of a quarter right in the center of the burger, why even bother putting any on at all. Although the bacon on the burger did have a good flavor. Was hoping the brussel sprouts would be great based on the description but they were bland and greasy. The pretzel was nothing great, auntie Anne's has way better pretzels because they're fresh baked, I suspect this was frozen and the beer cheese was just meh. Philly cheese steak egg rolls were bland, the steak inside had no flavor, the outside egg roll part was so greasy, and they need to change the oil in their deep fryer because the things that were fried like the egg rolls and the fish Fry tasted so dirty, like the oil was old and dirty. I took one bite of the fish fry and couldn't even eat it, it just tasted like dirty fryer oil. We were both disappointed at the low quality of food for such a high price. Would never go back here! we had a to go order and the food was ready at the time we said we would pick it up, which was nice, but the quality of food was extremely...
Read moreMy wife and i were actually headed to NYBP for our wedding anniversary dinner when we drove by the oak stave and decided to pull over and take a look at their menu. After looking at it, we decided to try something new. The majority of our night was great, here is my reciew below.
Drinks: F, I decided to order a mojito from the bar, what I got tasted nothing like it unfortunately. The mint leaf didn't have any flavor and was soggy with a purple look (almost life radish). The waitress then got me an old fashioned, which I wasn't very pleased with at all. The drinks were very poor in my opinion.
Appetizer: A+, the Bavarian pretzel is a must have! The beer cheese is great, we really enjoyed that!
Main course: B, my wife had the grilled ceaser salad and said it was good for the most part, she thought it was maybe a little soggy, but the flavor was great. I had the stave burger, the flavor was incredible, however it's nearly impossible to eat it has it's almost a foot high. That made the meal quite frustrating to eat. The truffle fries are incredible and a must have!
Dessert: A, we had coffee and the brownie/caramel ice cream, it was fantastic!
Staff: A, our waitress was great and very attentive to us!
Overall: B+, it is a very good option for food, which was a little surprising as they look like they pride themselves in drinks. It's a fun place to try something new, but probably not one I'd try again if I am looking...
Read moreWe were seated immediately. It took a while for someone to take our drink order. They were out of the Hayburner beer and the Bread&Butter Chardonay that we wanted. It took forever to take our food order. Then, it took forever to get our dinners. The waitress even asked us if we wanted desert. We said that we didnt even have dinner yet!! My husband ordered the special, Steak Frites for $38, which was supposed to be tenderloin and fries with a pepper cream sauce. The order came with a truffle sauce instead. My husband HATES truffles!!!!! I ordered the southwestern chicken ceaser wrap. It was supposed to have romaine, Parmesan, pico, jalapeño, black beans, and tortilla chips. It was terrible! It was 90% lettuce with a few pieces of tasteless chicken. I swear the chicken had zero seasoning. There were no jalapeños or tortilla chips. It had like a tablespoon of pico and a few black beans. It was awful!! I couldn't even eat it. I pulled the few pieces of flavorless chicken out to give to my dog. This place is way overpriced and the quality and quantity are bad! We will never waste our...
