If only I could leave negative stars. I am so disappointed! My family heard about the A.M. Manhattans, which I thought was more like a coffee martini...but we finally got to go and try this place!
However, I've worked the food and service industry for about 6-7 years. I haven't seen such tunnel vision on a server since I was a kid at hooters, watching my mom and aunt try to order, next to my dad and uncle! The server directed all questions and attention, to a single individual.
I was very very surprised when we had our food within 10 minutes of sitting down! But also very weary. My waffle was luke warm, I know.... as if sitting there in the warmer for 10-15 minutes.
When the server came over, she did the quickest walk by "how is everything". I didn't even have a chance to look up or answer. She didn't come back for 20 minutes! No I did not wave her down. But I did try locking eye contact with any other server! It didn't work. When she did come back, the interaction was so confrontational! Yes someone answered for me that I'd like a new waffle. But as I was answering making it clear, I did not want a new one. The server replied "Oh I'm asking, nodded towards another individual, if he'd like another drink. I didn't even get a chance to say, I'd like another drink!
She proceeded to slap the check down before the next round of drinks. With attitude, commented on my dissatisfaction. With the reply of "I'm trying my best!". Wouldn't your best be asking the customer what else they'd like, or what could improve their experience?
I'm there with you sister. But even on my bad day, I'd never say what she did! But sure, situational. Im just saying, if this was my business..... or my money i'd try to check in differently. She was taking the receipt before we left, when we got to ask for a to-go container.
I'll never go back. I felt so rushed. Unwanted or looked down upon and kind of a burden! Sadly this was just brunch and it wasn't...
Read moreCity of good neighbors fail! Zoe’s was my breakfast tradition with my dad when I come home to visit. Yes it’s rather pricey for breakfast but they load you up on portion size, I assume to make up for the price and mediocre taste. I did enjoy the Sarasota omelet (name nostalgia a bonus) however generally found the omelet and potatoes lacking seasoning. Perhaps it caters to an older crowd which is what I see most breakfast times. Tragically my last and final visit there I was left literally speechless from the nasty service staff. My boyfriend and I took my niece and nephew here for breakfast, at the end he went up to pay since they were ready to leave (both under 10) and came back with the change which included a penny, and left the tip (which included the penny in addition to bills which was over a 20% tip). Before getting up to leave our server comes by and asks us if we ever worked in the service industry. Me-who grew up here and worked as a server a half mile away-thinking maybe we knew someone together- says yes. To which Brenda replies- I just wanted to mention how much I really appreciate the penny-in a nasty sarcastic tone 😳 yes in front of kids as well. She promptly went to hide in the back and, with aforementioned kids present, I was literally speechless. I suppose those high prices are enough to keep the staff feeling confident to complain about extra money left. Not sure how leaving the full $75 cash (bill + tip) on the table would have produced a more amiable Brenda when it’s literally the same amount spent except we cashed out to save time. Lesson learned- had a lovely breakfast the next day w my...
Read moreMy friend and I went to Zoe after she raved about her chicken and waffles during her first experience (caveat: she went for early lunch or brunch). This visit was my first experience. However, we went for late dinner (approx. 7:30p). We were served old re-heated fried chicken which was really brown on the inside. When we inquired about this, the waitress denied it. I understand “shrinkage” and “profit.” I also know re-heated fried chicken when I see it. We were given $4 off the chicken and wasn’t delivered freshly cooked chicken. The chicken quesadillas were bland and were not served with sour cream. My friend and I were the only minorities in there at this time and I couldn’t help but wonder if any other patron would have been given old chicken or a dismal resolution. The manager NEVER approached us. The waitress was pleasant enough. She mixed up items on our separate checks. But corrected it. My issue with her was witnessing her complaining about her $5 cash tip from my friend to her colleague at the hostess desk. My friend left before me to go smoke. I went to the restroom and walked up on her complaining. I wanted to return to our table and pick up the $10 cash tip I left but I didn’t. However, I won’t go back. I left Buffalo some 35 years ago and returned last year. I’m trying out restaurants I’ve not tried. This experience makes me want to stick to what I know. It’s...
