The sandwiches at this new location in the Syracuse area are very good with a wide variety of choices. A nice outdoor patio also makes this a great place for lunch under the sun.
I had the chicken salad sandwich which was mixed with grapes and walnuts and was both large in size and great in taste. No complaints here.
As this new location moves forward, I do have a few opinions on how to improve. First, with the name “Brooklyn Pickle” you would expect that when ordering an individual pickle for $1.35 that you would get a pickle like those barrel choices in NYC, with a delicious infused brine that breaks open when biting through the crisp skin. Nope, this “Brooklyn Pickle” was instead quite unremarkable in every way. It was soft and spongy and a bit sour. It was no wider than 7/8 of an inch and no longer than 2 1/2 inches. Upon requesting it was picked out of a drawer and tossed on the counter in a plastic baggie. That’s not your Daddy’s Brooklyn Pickle.
I repeat, the sandwiches are excellent, but don’t buy a pickle, buy a jar at the local store and bring one pickle in your own plastic baggie.
And, when ordering, you don’t pay the girl or guy you order from... instead they yell out your entire order to another girl and she takes your credit card. Actually, I had my phone ready for ApplePay, like everyone does in Brooklyn, but for some operational design reason, they utilize another person to take away your credit card.
So enjoy the sandwich. The mushroom soup was bland but my wife liked the beans and greens soup. Overall they deserve the four stars for an excellent sandwich but I hope they work on living up to the name,...
Read moreJust awful. Surly woman with crossed arms by the register doing nothing but glaring at the busy kids haplessly trying to make sandwiches. The set up is utterly ridiculous. Wait on line forever. Be sure to grab your desserts and drinks or you have to go back and wind through the line to get them. Don't forget to grab the right chips as you pass by or you'll have to, again, wind through the line to go back and get them. The kids making your sandwich ask you what you want, then walk to the other counter to make it. By the time they get there they forget what you ordered and have to walk all the way back to ask you again. All this while the surly lady who handles the money does nothing. Then once the kid makes your sandwich he/she has to carry it over to the counter where you are standing (as half of it falls on the floor) so it can be wrapped up. Then the kid has to scream over to the surly lady what you bought. Who knows what she is entering into the register as she just comes over and demands an amount of money. While she's doing this the kid can't take any more orders. She has to go back to the register with your credit card... While the kid and you stand and wait. Then she comes back with your card with no receipt. What the heck did I just pay for? Oh my, I was ready to poke my own eye out! This place would NEVER make it in Brooklyn! Oh, and did I mention that NONE of the sandwiches on their menu had descriptions? No one could tell me what an Italian sub was. A perfect example of how NOT to run...
Read moreWho doesn’t love a good Brooklyn Pickle sandwich?! My reason for the review is to express how extremely impressed I am by them. Today 7/17/25 I believe was their 50 year anniversary. My daughter and I went after I got out of work at 4:30p.m. to grab dinner and take advantage of the $5 items they were offering. I just knew because it was so packed, getting out of work late and also waiting in line for 2 hours meant that they would run out of what we wanted by the time we got to the counter to order. But NO! They had everything we wanted( except for the $.50 whole pickles 🥺😂) When it was our time to order it was around 6:30p.m., there was some items sold out, but not what we wanted on our sandwich, which was extremely impressive because they were opened since 10a.m. HAT’S OFF to the staff there. No matter how long your day was, everyone was pleasant and professional. YOU ALL rocked it today! THANK YOU for the great customer service and the wait was well worth it with fresh bread, deli meat...
