Falafel Express — Restaurant in Town of Colonie

Anytime I'm in the area, I stop at the Galleria 7 for a bite to eat. Today, I tried Falafel Express. Wow! I mean, I was already a fan of everything I saw on their menu. The thing that made it special was that it was all prepared right there. I opted for the traditional white sauce and not the spicy sauce. As I get my order, the guy there asks if I don't like the spicy sauce. I replied that I hadn't had it before. He told me it wasn't like a "burn my face off" kind of experience, just has a nice kick to it. He put a small ramekin on my tray and said I should try it and let him know what I think. Long story short, I've been converted to the spicy sauce. It was so good! I went back to thank him for the suggestion, and he said he had just made the sauce before I ordered. Yeah, you read that right. I wasn't kidding when I said what makes this place special is that it's all prepared right there. Even the delicious sauce is made in their kitchen! The atmosphere of the Galleria 7 has a food court vibe, but don't let that stop you from checking out Falafel Express. And now you know that you can get that spicy goodness...

I shared this with the man who waited on me at the Falafel Express. In 2024, I fought cancer, and went through 12 rounds of chemo. My last chemo was March 6, 2025. I told my friend, "when I get all my taste buds back, I wanna get a falafel somewhere." Well, here we are. Taste buds are back, and this past Saturday I went to get my falafel wrap. I cannot over-express how delicious it was. It wasn't just because I'd not had one in a very long time. It was because they were just that good. The falafel disks themselves were hot and crispy on the outside but tender when I bit into them. The tzatziki sauce was perfect, not too garlicy. The pita was so warm and soft and fluffy, I almost wanted to use it as a blanket! For $10, this is a steal! Don't walk, RUN to this place. I cannot wait to try their other dishes, but I may just end up getting the falafel wrap again. And...

This place has quickly become my go-to for a nourishing comfort meal!! The chicken schwarma rice platter is amazing - I always get 2 meals out of it - and their white sauce is out of this world. We usually order extra because it’s so good. Recently tried their falafel and their hummus and wow the obsession continues. Did I mention the pita? I am passionate about this place, people. This restaurant is inside of an indoor market with tons of other food surrounding it and I still beeline for their counter nearly every time I come here. The owners are super kind as well.
