Shalimar Express at Galleria7 — Restaurant in Town of Colonie

This was after pre-order on whatsapp that Ruby gave me a time to dine-in halwa puri option1 . I asked her just a night before to confirm what time should i reach there. She said 11AM . I was the first customer to reach there and as i sat down another big family if almost a dozen people came in 10 mins after I did. I kept waiting for my order and after 2o minutes when it was finally served it had only 1 puri in it. I said wasnt it 2 puris in the package? She said you wait we will bring it. I finished the puri and kept waiting again for 15 minutes. In the meantime they were busy serving multiple puris to this huge family without delay and served them hot tea ina pot. When i asked for a single cup of tea. She made it such a huge issue saying that was not part of the package. Well didn’t you know that I was dining in ? Would anybody have halwa puri without chai? If that were the case that asking for a single cup of tea was such a big deal why did she nit inform me the night before when she was booking orders? How absurd? And this was my first visit and certainly will be the last for the poor attitude and worst customer service . I was served half a cup of tea, No sugar sachet no stirrer nothing. And the table in-front of me was being served and i was here before them and i had to wait and when i went to her to pay she started arguing with me and was incredibly rude instead if being apologetic and appreciating how patient i was throughout. Then she tried to tell me that she did me a huge favor of not charging me for the 2 sips of tea she served me. I said if i can pay for the halwa puri i can pay for this too. The food itself was mediocre Such arrogance and pathetic approach toward a first time client. ! I bet all these 5 stars reviews are either their own friends or paid reviews. Shameful & disgusting...

FLIES OVER FOOD, NASTY OWNER, AND WORKERS THAT DON’T SPEAK ENGLISH! STAY AWAY! The gallery itself is great, but my experience with shalimar was not. I called and ordered my food on the phone and was told one price. When I arrived. No one spoke English and then after waiting 15 mins the owner comes and tells me their lunch special has one price of 16 then after continuing to take he admits there a a lower priced special. Most people would honor the price I was told and though I don’t ask him to, it should have happened. I left the food right there and ordered Korean next door and it was amazing and they customer service even better.

Update. Thank you so for replying and making yourself sound racist. Your parents do not speak any English and your mother went walking around the gallery in a panic trying to find you cause she could not use the register or communicate for over 10 minutes. I even had time to run to the bathroom. I waited so long. Then when I asked your parents to put the food back on the warmer, even that they did not understand. I have to gesture and sign it. I’m even still laughing how you tried to convince me you took my order and told me 16 dollars until I told you it was not you it was a woman and then you confessed it was your wife and said “it was my wife but she told me exactly what you said” What a joke! You are a narcissist and you should just have apologized and given me the price quoted or at minimum asked your wife what price she told me, but no like all narcissist you wanted to have it your way and now come here to lie. That is why your food is still sitting in the same place. Just nasty and I didn’t even mention the flies that were all over your stall, while the rest of spots had no flies..JUST...

I was CRAVING chicken Kashmiri bad tonight but my husband is not a big fan of the spice in traditional Indian food. As a compromise, we settled on Galleria 7 in Latham, a multi-ethnic food market with excellent vendors, including @Shalimar express.

I called around 5 to ask if Shalimar express makes chicken Kashmiri. The nice man answered, told me no and respectfully hung up the call. Within five minutes, the owner, Leo, called me back to tell me that although they do not have chicken Kashmiri as a menu item, they were able to make a modified version and call is chili chicken. We arrived around 615 and Leo greeted us with a smile and a “it was you!!!” He proceeded to explain how he would custom make a dish for me and would make it suitable for my dietary needs. He really didn’t not have to but this man went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience.

We received the food within 15 minutes and it was DELICIOUS. The chicken was soft and tender, the garlic naan was flavorful and the veggies were absolute perfection. My husband had the Curry chicken and loved every bite. Leo even came and spoke to us about his history, his family and his love for serving his friends.

We never post on this page but Leo made this experience such a memorable one. He went far beyond great customer service and truly the food was Amazing. If you are ever in all Latham,...
