I tried the empanadas D’Verde on Memorial Day and they were amazing. The empanadas were crunchy, tasty and filled with cheese they were served with three sauces: spicy salsa, creamy chipotle and avocado cilantro. I liked all of them specially the avocado cilantro and chipotle. The service was really on point Veronica was really nice and explained me all the menu. I can not wait to go back and tried the other dishes when I am in Albany. Edit. I was visiting Albany for the weekend and I could not resist to visit once again Viva empanadas. The visit was worth it they have expanded the menu and there are so many options to eat. I loved the rotisserie chicken and the arepa both dishes were amazing and very tasty. I tried the mushroom empanada and it was delicious. The visit was worth it and Veronica was very kind and patient explaining all the menu.

It’s actually been about a year since I last ate at Viva Empanadas. A coworker of mine and I had stopped in last summer for something quick and tasty. Let me just say, the empanadas were absolutely delicious and made with love. This is a family owned/ran business and it shows. The owners are so kind and professional. They went out of their way to make my coworker and I feel taken care of. As a Latina woman originally from NYC, upstate can often be lacking in flavor…no offense…but viva empanadas makes me feel like I’m back home with my family enjoying delicious Spanish cuisine. It’s truly a great place to eat and relax. Great environment too. Just ordered some off of Uber eats for my hubby and I. Can’t wait to dive back into this delicious food. Don’t let my review alone convince you. Stop in!! (picture from last year.)

The flavors, the presentation, and the owner, Veronica, were ALL out of this world. My colleague and I were walking around the Galleria and once we saw Viva Empanadas we stopped in our tracks. Veronica helpfully talked us through the menu and I had the crispy, hot, melty empanadas (with three homemade dipping sauces included). Full of flavor, they were filling but not heavy — I still had room for the tres leche served with Andean coconut ice cream (the ice cream was a great complement to the sweet leche) & homemade mango lemonade (refreshing, not too sweet). The whole meal was fresh, flavorful, and balanced — one of the best meals I’ve had in the Capital Region since I moved here 5 years ago.

A week ago my wife got empanadas from Viva Empanada while I was at work, and since she has insisted daily that we go together to try them for myself. We originally tried on Sunday but they were unexpectedly closed (the owner later told me they closed due to selling out of their daily inventory) so we came again today.

Immediately we could see the menu was very inclusive with vegetarian gluten free and vegan options. The menu was very reasonably priced as well, with an assortment of dishes.

When we walked up the owner, a very sweet woman named Veronica greeted us and helped us with their menu. We chose after her suggestions 2 Chicken Sofrito, 2 Chorizo, and 2 Colombianitas. My wife got the 2 Chicken, I got the 2 Chorizo and we split the Colombianitas. The dough was so perfectly fried in all my empanadas and chicken and potato filling was seasoned perfectly. The chorizo had a great flavor and texture and the cheese was nicely melted.

Each empanada came with sauces as well. I had gotten the spicy pico, cilantro avocado, and chimichurri. The spicy pico had nice chunks of onion and tomato, and the cilantro avocado was subtle and tangy. The chimichurri was very well balanced as well.

Veronica especially was so nice after as well, so wonderfully passionate about the food they make. When I mentioned that it was a special day for us, she kindly gave us a very sweet gift.

Can't wait to come back and try and enjoy many more of their dishes...
