Metro 7 Diner: A Promising Start, But Room for Improvement
I was genuinely excited to try Metro 7 Diner, especially with new owners at the helm and the constant search for good diners near my home. What truly piqued my interest was seeing their advertisement for Eggs Benedict, specifically mentioning homemade hollandaise, which is one of my favorite breakfasts.
Upon arrival, the diner looked nice and clean inside, and the hostess was friendly and welcoming, setting a pleasant tone. Our waitress was also very kind and personable, contributing to a good service experience.
My brother ordered a breakfast platter and asked if he could swap the pancakes for a waffle, even offering to pay more. Our waitress assured him he wouldn't be charged extra, which was great to hear. However, when the bill came, he was indeed charged more for the waffle. While we didn't say anything, it was a bit disappointing. Despite that, he did enjoy his meal overall.
I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and while it looked appealing with generous ham and nice, thick English muffins (a definite positive, as many places skimp on ham or serve tiny, burnt muffins), the flavor was completely absent. Hollandaise sauce is meant to have a vibrant zip and sweetness from lemon juice, along with a pleasant saltiness from butter and a pinch of salt. This version was sadly bland and very disappointing, especially given the "homemade" promise.
The home fries were equally underwhelming. Some were barely cooked and hard, lacking any seasoning or crispness. Others had a distinct "earthy" taste, almost as if they'd just been pulled from the ground without proper cleaning or seasoning, which I found hard to stomach.
In summary, the service at Metro 7 Diner was wonderful, and the atmosphere truly embodies the quintessential diner feel. However, the food, particularly my Eggs Benedict and the home fries, left a lot to be desired. I'm willing to give Metro 7 Diner another chance, hoping these are just new-owner kinks to work out, but I highly doubt I'll be ordering the Eggs...

Prices are more expensive than the diner down the street but prices are up everywhere as it's 2023. We ordered 2 kids meals pancakes & Mac n cheese as well as 2 adult meals the grilled cheese and chicken marsala. Portions were great and the fries were the potato wedge kind. I am not generally a fan of potato wedges but they were seasoned nicely so they were enjoyable. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Bathrooms were also clean which is always a plus. We will definitely be back!
Update: went back today after they had been opened for a bit. Excellent customer service, was just me and my toddler son and the server was quick, friendly, & adaptive. The kids meals are a great deal when you see what you get. They get to choose a main dish, 2 sides, drink, & cookie. When I went to pay I realized I forgot my credit card in my car. The cashier was super patient and I packed up myself and my son and got out to the car and back. My Buffalo chicken wrap was great as well! Again, we will...
