I was recently here with a group of 3 and we were beyond excited to try the food since the restaurant seems to have raving reviews. Boy could Google not have misled us any more than it did. This place is a JOKE!
First let's start with the service.
The host who greeted us was miserable and clearly didn't want to be there. I get it, work isn't always glorious, but you don't have to be uninviting and off-putting.
Our server was seemingly just as incoherent since we had to ask multiple times for condiments, which she kept forgetting or saying "Oh, you wanted that?"
Yes I wanted ketchup for my COLD, SAD FOOD!
Now for the food...
We ordered 3 sandwiches and a togo order, which was another sandwich. 3 of the 4 sandwiches were ordered with salads, and it STILL took nearly 30-40 minutes to receive our food. When it finally made it to us, the food wasn't even hot. Our sandwiches were barely room temperature, our salads were wilting and had some slimy leaves in them, and our sweet potato fries were COLD. I don't mean that they weren't as warm as we'd like, I mean they were literally cold, like they'd been sitting for quite some time.
Our sandwich orders consisted of two pulled pork sandwiches, a Reuben, and a "steak" sandwich.
The pulled pork looked like it was slathered in barbecue sauce, and get it tastes like some type of shredded wild game. No sweet, tangy barbecue flavor at all. Just the off flavor of pork that might as well have sat in the sun before it got processed and cooked.
The steak sandwich was supposed to contain sliced prime rib, but let me tell you... Whatever meat they used, it was cheaper than the steak at subway. Tasted like the cheapest, dryest philly cheese steak you'd ever order.
Oh, and the sides that each entree comes with are not actually included. You WILL be up charged for any side you choose, including salads...
And hey, don't forget the dollar upcharge for corned beef when you order a Reuben, because it's extra to get... What you ordered?
Overall, this place was incredibly disappointing and we won't be eating here again. I imagine there used to be a reason to go here, but after what we experienced today, it seems not a single soul employed there cared to provide decent service or food.
Beware if you're looking to eat here, you won't...
Read moreWell, started our experience off with being greeted by a miserable face. Which we initially let go, people have bad days. We get that. We were seated quickly, it wasn't very busy.
It took a few minutes for our server to come over, who also looked miserable. We got our drinks in a timely manner. Put our food order in after that. The soup came out quick, and quite honestly was the best and only great thing to eat. The spud bites followed shortly after. They were okay, but dry.
We then waited about 20-30 minutes for our hot sandwiches.... All were disappointing. My husband got a soggy fatty reuben. Along with some cold sweet potato fries. My brother in law, a sad looking steak sandwich. It had little meat and even less horseradish mayo. My pulled pork sandwich did have a lot of meat on it, however it wasn't very flavorful. Was gamey and tasted very porky. I thought maybe some extra bbq sauce would help but my server was no where to be found. I eventually got my bbq sauce at the end of the meal with the check. Didn't even get to eat my sandwich. I had to bring it home to fix it up a bit....
So we have the check, and notice a few things. First off, you're being charged for the sides when at the top of the page on the menu it says "all served with one side". And the second thing was, the reuben sandwich was $14.99, then a $1.00 charge for corned beef... which is what the sandwich is. When my husband asked about it, they said it was an upcharge that they had for something they did on St Patrick's day and that it was a mistake. The system automatically does it. So they've been charging an extra dollar since St Patrick's day...
We then ended the meal looking at an unhappy face on our waitress and that really solidified our not so great experience. And if that didn't, the walk out sure did. We were walking down the path towards the parking lot and almost got hit by a gentleman who was on a tractor 🚜 backing up into us. Didn't even notice.
So I would unfortunately not recommend Otis and Oliver's. It was a nice looking place surrounded by a golf course. The food was disappointing, and the service was upsetting. I will say the potato and bacon soup was very good. So get soup...
