I can quite honestly say I am very disappointed in my shopping experience at Play it Again. I've been to the store four times in the last six weeks in hopes to have one of the wonderful shopping experiences that I have been reading so much about. However, I have yet to have any of the employees be able to step away from their own personal conversations to be able to assist me. This was highly disappointing especially when I went to the store the first time looking to buy a new ski package for myself and not one employee was familiar enough with skis to intelligently help me narrow down what to buy. So unfortunately for you Play it Again Sports, my $700 sale went up the Northway to a competitor, where they were very eager to help me find the perfect fit for my ability. The second time I went back to the store I was looking to purchase a new or used snowboard for my daughter. I understand that it's mid season and the selection is low but again there was very little eagerness to help me in this transaction. Again left disappointed. I was really hoping that the third time would be a charm. After my daughter and I decided that she needed her own helmet for snowboarding, we went back to the store and again hoped that one of the employees would be able to assist in finding the right size for her head as I do not often carry a measuring tape in my pocket. We spent the greater part of an hour trying on the very wide selection of helmets & disappointingly not one staff member offered to help she nor I with assisting for the perfect fit & yet again my sale went elsewhere. Maybe the fourth time will be a charm I thought to myself, perhaps the high school age employees will all be in school and an adult will be there and willing to help me purchase a new ski helmet. I should have learned my lesson. There are hundreds of helmets at the store which is wonderful if you know exactly what you're looking for and the size that is best. By no means do all helmets fit the same even if they are the same size. I walked out of the store purchasing what seemed to feel good on my head and when I got home and finally just had found that it was actually too large. I packed up the helmet & brought it back to the store the next day. Unfortunately i was not asked if they could help me find a new one that fit better, just took the returned & told to have a nice day. That was the perfect opportunity for the store to redeem it self for me & again the staff member could have cared less about helping me or making a new sale/exchange. I wanted to love the store. I like the idea of being able to trade in old equipment and get new equipment all in the same place and shopping local. However, the customer service standards here were essentially nonexistent & unfortunately I won't be giving them a 5th opportunity to correct this. Customer service means the world to me and I constantly refer people to a business that I felt went out of their way to create a Raving Fan. Every opportunity that I gave the employees here to help me they failed, to me that is bad business, especially when you have a customer who is looking to outfit herself and her children with new ski and snowboard equipment. My advice for future shoppers of this establishment is, if you know exactly what you want and the store carries it you will be fine. However if you are going in open minded and with a desire for a staff member to cater to you & truly make a lasting impression on your shopping experience this is definitely not what I'd...
Read morePlay it again sport is a place our family learned about through a co-worker that just like us has multiple young kids in expensive sports. With their trade in and used equipment line helps provide top of the line equipment wheather used or new to the ever growing athlete.
If you havent been there, they run periods of time before that sport season starts, where you can trade your good used equipment in or have them just sell it for you then if and when it does they contact you. As you then shop to update your equipment.
It has saved our family hundreds of dollars, as our kids do it all from hockey, baseball, soccer, and skiing/snowboarding. But thats not all they carry. They have a great staff thats helpful and excellent with information.
As any place you maybe able to find something cheaper someplace else or they dont carry what your looking for... thats just the way it does. However if you are buying new cleats or skates every season for their growing feet...look up play it again and bring your old ones in on trade.
Before i go and buy new, i stop and take a look at play it...
Read moreDO NOT GET YOUR EQUIPMENT SERVICED HERE! I dropped off my snowboard here to get a basic waxing and sharpening done. There was also a core shot that had to be filled in. I go to pick it up a week later and it looked terrible. There was wax shavings still all over the base and my bindings. The spot where he petexed looked like garbage with how much carbon deposits he dropped into it. The waxing was ruff, quick, and not very good. He didn't even rub it down with a scotch brite pad. Overall, I worked at a rental shop and we serviced our rental equipment better than this guy does with people's personal equipment.
The store does have a nice selection of used and new skiing and snowboarding equipment as well as boots bindings...
